It’s no surprise this girl is growing better and better release after release, first time I listened to her was when I knew she’s going to the top. Cos even as young as she is right now, her music is really refined. So grab a seat and let’s ride with her. Edie Yvonne in collaboration with producer Rio Root and fellow songwriter Maddy Simmen has made yet again, another amazing song titled “GIRL CODE”. As she starts high school, this song talks about the changes in the relationships she has with her friends and the nature of adolescence. Edie Yvonne entered the music industry and established herself s a singer and songwriter based in Los Angeles at the age of 13. Well released “GIRL CODE” on November 22 which was her birthday, that’s just two days ago tho, so this song has that fresh energy and shines brightly as a just finished refined gold.
The lyrics of GIRL CODE” talks about promises breaking, friends switching up on you and the nature of adolescence. The mention of looking in the mirror also talks about self-reflection and the difficulties of not being able to identify oneself during adolescence. The lines “So close and now you’re so far, You’re just somebody I knew, When did it end, I lost a friend, You hurt me again and again” talks about how it feels to be close to someone then out of no where they start changing and getting distant which shows loss and how it can emotionally affect you.
“GIRL CODE” perfectly describes the emotional rollercoaster that comes with being a teenager and the the things you have to go through in order to grow up. Yvonne’s ability to express all these through this song just shows how talented she is and with the help of Rio Root and Maddy Simmen, they’ve made a song that a lot of teenagers and even adults all over the world can understand and relate to and that is just beautiful. If this is how Edie Yvonne is starting then imagine how amazing she’s gonna become and how she’s gonna evolve as an artist in the near future.
