A Look At Rick Jansen’s “Rise” and the Magic Touch of Producer Wain

Not many producers gets the glory they deserve cos sometimes we all about the artist, lyrics and all, forgetting the sound, how the song moves and the perfect mixing it comes with. Some songs blow up because they have a great hook. Some blow up because the singer has a strong fanbase. And then there are songs like “Rise,” where the production does the heavy lifting and turns a good idea into something people want to play over and over again. Rick Jansen sings it, but the heartbeat of the track comes from the producer, Wain, who handled the full build of the music, the details of the arrangement, and the final mix. Almost a million streams later, it’s pretty clear the work paid off.

“Rise” started as a song written by Daniel Sarver. On paper, it was already emotional, but Wain’s job was to turn it into a full experience that matched what the lyrics were trying to say. The theme is about getting up after life knocks you down. It’s not the most unique topic, but you see, lotta people just vibe with it. It’s like a universal something and this track needed to feel like a climb, not just a tune that plays in the background while you do fold them clothes.

Well Wain took that challenge and built a production that grows step by step. I love how he turned the whole track into something everyone can vibe with. Now, here’s the trick, the beginning is calm, almost like the song is trying to wake up before school. Then, as it moves forward, the music gets bigger. More instruments, more movement, more tension. By the time the chorus hits, it feels like everything is firing at once. Rick’s voice sits right on top of it, but the shape of the track comes from everything Wain stacked beneath him. It’s the classic moment where someone says, “Wow, the song feels huge,” and the producer quietly sits in the corner thinking, “Yup, that was the plan.”

The most amazing thing that stands out is how many layers the production uses. Wain didn’t go for the “two instruments and call it a day” approach. He blended acoustic guitars, added live percussion, and then mixed in modern production tricks that make the track feel modern. I love how he combines natural sounds with digital ones, and “Rise” shows that clearly. Nothing feels empty here, which makes it the kinda track where, if you muted half the channels, it would suddenly feel wrong, like forgetting your phone at home.

As the mix engineer, Wain had to juggle all these parts without making it messy. This is where things get tricky for most producers, but he has enough experience to handle it. With more than 100 released tracks behind him and work with artists from different countries, he’s used to shaping songs that need to hit a commercial bar. For “Rise,” he kept Rick’s vocal right in the middle and built everything else around it so listeners feel the emotion without getting overwhelmed. It’s clean, it’s balanced, and it’s made for big playlists.

Wain’s background helps explain how he pulled this off. He works in pop, indie, folk, and alternative spaces, and he has a habit of mixing emotional depth with modern details. In June 2025, he even released his own full album, Still Colorful, which he produced completely by himself. He also moves between Europe and the US for projects and is relocating to Los Angeles to expand his work. In short, he doesn’t just hit buttons. He builds the full world of a song.

With “Rise,” you can feel his leadership throughout the track. The direction, the growth, the pacing, the shape — it all comes from his decisions. Rick brings the voice, and Daniel brings the writing, but Wain brings the architecture that holds everything together. Without that, “Rise” wouldn’t be the strong, playlist-ready anthem it has become. Well people tend to always praise the artist, but if there’s anything, Rise has shown that producers are the real magicians sometimes. Cos you don’t get such good songs as easy as Wain makes them sound. So why don’t you go ahead and give this masterpiece a listen and feel the magical touch of a master producer.
