Ava Valianti Turns Big Feelings Into Indie-Pop Gold on “Deep Fuchsia”
Music ain’t something you just wake up to do sometimes, but people do it anyway and that’s because they are talented enough even from a very young age to be able to craft such poetry. Well I don’t know what most of us were doing at sixteen, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t selling out headlining shows and getting played on hundreds of radio stations.
Ava Valianti is a sixteen-year-old from Massachusetts who clearly has more talent in her pinky finger than most people have in their entire bodies. She just released her new single, “Deep Fuchsia,” and it is the kind of indie-pop song that makes you remember exactly how intense being a teenager feels. This feeling is what some of us sometimes miss, but you know that moment where you know this is gonna hurt but there’s also an excitement in there and that’s what you wanna reach it.

Well Ava has been building a name for herself since her first song, “bubble wrap,” which dropped in 2023. She’s opened for bands like The Strumbellas and has been nominated for a bunch of awards, but she still comes across like a normal kid who just happens to write really good songs in her bedroom. Her debut EP, petunias, was a hit with her fans, but “Deep Fuchsia” feels like she’s turning the volume up. And this is what makes the song interesting and genuinely enjoyable. You know that time where you’ve been use to something then along the way you just experienced something out of the ordinary and you’re like yo! Turn it up turn it up! That is the feeling this song gives.
Now the song is all about that messy, all-consuming kind of love where everything feels like a movie. At a moment you’re in disbelief, then another you’re like ah I deserve this and even more yet, you find it hard to grasp how such love found you. And according to Ava, she wrote it about that weird space where you’re both obsessed and a little bit worried, but you dive in anyway because the feeling is just too bright to ignore. Like yo! This isn’t what I was expecting, but it’s overwhelmingly good to let go, so I ain’t hitting the breaks. One thing I love about the song is how it’s got this bits of a pop-rock edge, that makes it feel bigger and more “electrified” than her earlier stuff.
What I like about Ava is that she doesn’t sound like she’s trying to copy the big stars on the radio. She has her own voice—it has this bit of raw feel in there, which then comes with a little bit vulnerability, but she sounds totally in control. “Deep Fuchsia” has this pulsing beat and sharp lyrics that stick in your head long after the song is over. And it has this perfect ending where everything just slows down and let it all out. Which translates to how such love feeling is, it’s all great, shiny and quick, but you need to take your time at the end of the day to digest everything after your first date. To me it’s the perfect track for when you’re feeling a little too much and need someone to put those feelings into words.
Thing is aside from the new music, she’s heading out on a mini tour of the Northeast this winter. It’s a chance for her to play her songs live and actually meet the people who have been streaming her music by the thousands.
Overall Ava Valianti is definitely not just another “viral kid”—she’s a real songwriter who is only getting started. “Deep Fuchsia” is a bold, colorful start to her next chapter, and I’m pretty excited to see where she goes next.
