Baaj & Baaj Revives 80s Synth Pop With “Don’t Give Up”

Thing is life can be crazy sometimes that, it makes you question a lot of things. But in all, we don’t have to give up. We need to keep pushing and make the most out of it. So if you’re a fan of 80s legends like The Cure or Depeche Mode, you need to put Baaj & Baaj on your radar. Working solo out of Cognac, France, this guy is a true one-man band. He writes, sings, and plays every single instrument himself. He’s been nicknamed “the little Mozart” since he was a kid, and honestly, listening to his new track “Don’t Give Up,” it’s easy to see why.

The song is a total mood. It’s got that dark, moody synth work that makes you want to wear a trench coat and stare at the rain, but it’s mixed with a funkier edge that feels a bit like Daft Punk. His voice has been compared to icons like Bono and Bryan Ferry, and he really leans into that dramatic, soaring vocal style here.

Don’t Give Up” is exactly what the title says—an uplifting, danceable anthem. It’s a song that pushes you to do more and never let your guard down. It’s not always going to be a green go, sometimes things are gonna be tough. But you’ve gotta know that there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Baaj says he wrote it to remind people that even when a cause seems lost, you’ve still got to get up and fight. It’s a great mix of nostalgic 80s pop and modern electronic sounds. While the music feels like a party, the lyrics tackle real-world issues and the messy ways humans interact with each other.

There’s a funny story from the recording sessions, too. At one point, his keyboard just gave up in the middle of a take and made a bizarre, screeching noise. He didn’t keep that part in, but it’s a good reminder that even “little Mozarts” deal with tech meltdowns.

Baaj is a staple in his local scene and has already racked up over a million streams. He lives by the phrase “Carpe diem” because he thinks life is too short to waste. If you’re looking for something that feels both vintage and fresh, this track is a great place to start. It’s catchy, it’s meaningful, and it’s got just enough grit to keep things interesting.
