The French/Australian music artist, producer, poet and video creator, Benedict Sinister, is back again with a new song that he promises will blow the minds of his fans which was actually released on September 29th. After his club hits “EDM Mockney” and “Going Away”, this new song titled “Only Sixteen” is also on it’s way to be another hit song released by BenedictSinister. “Only Sixteen” which is a combination of emo rap and a little bit of Adele’s music style, talks about a teenage breakup. This song is actually an English adaptation of the Italian trap song “Autostima” which was made by the Napolitan-Roman duo called “Psicologi” and popularly known for being in the soundtrack of the Netflix hit show “Summertime”.
When asked about how this song came about or what inspired him to make this song, this is what Benedict Sinister had to say; “It’s an adaptation of an Italian song, and the original title would translate as ‘Self Esteem.’ I decided to change it, not to avoid confusion with the British artist of that name, but to create confusion with the 1975 Dr. Hook hit ‘Only Sixteen,’ written by Sam Cooke. I chose the same title to mess with Spotify’s and YouTube’s algorithms, and aid discovery from the massive army of Dr. Hook fans.”
The lyrics of the song are so real that anyone who listens to the song will definitely relate to it. Only Sixteen’s lyrics talks about love, the decisions we make in relationships, the consequences of those decisions and regret. The lyrics talks about a lot of things throughout the song and that’s what makes the song worth listening to.
Recorded and produced in Los Angeles, this song is just so amazing and the music video…Oh My..JUST PERFECT!. The music video was actually shot shot in Toronto, Canada and it feature model and influencer ‘No Gender’ Jude Karda who Benedict saw on social media and decided would be the perfect person to be in the video.
