Chromatic Echoes by mxguinness – Feels Like a Night You Don’t Want to End

Sometimes it’s good to take a break, pause and observe from afar. Then you analyze and come in stronger and as always you deliver more than you can punch. So it’s no rocket science that after such a long break from the music scene, mxguinness is back with a two-track EP called “Chromatic Echoes”. And oh my goodness, this is epic. The blend of sounds, the nostalgic feeling, all out together to give us this techno masterpiece is incredible.

You might think he just sat there and did nothing whilst on break, but nope, after working behind the scenes for years, he devifed that now is the time to launch his own label, Northscape, to release music that doesn’t really fit into one tiny box. And this new record is a proof of that. I love how the mix of heavy rhythms and dark, movie-like moods stay with you long after the beat stops.

One thing I love about the EP is how short it is, yet carries a lot of personality. The EP opens with “Acid Burn” and man o man, you just can’t help but jump to the beat. Something beautiful happens here and I love it. The way the track starts like one techno beat is crazy, then it keeps luring you in, like as though you want to know what’s next after that beat drops.

Then your curiosity finally leads you to where all the masterpiece shines, where all the sounds come together and now you can’t help but feel like you wanna shake everything away. Now here’s a catch, if you ever watched the 90s cult movie Hackers, the name will ring a bell. The track is named after one of the main characters, and the song captures that weird, digital energy from the film. It’s sharp and a little bit rebellious. It doesn’t just copy old sounds, though. It feels modern and punchy, like something you’d hear in a high-tech club today.

Now the second track is “1015 Half“. The way the first track started a bit lightly, this one comes in a more heavy techno beat, which then allows the other sounds to creep in and consume you before you realize you’re not at the club. Like always there’s a reason behind each track, and this one is a tribute to a famous old nightclub in Washington, DC, called Nations. The title is actually the street address.

It’s a deep, driving tune that feels like a long night on a loud dance floor. It has that heavy, pulsing pressure that makes you feel like you’re back in a packed warehouse at 3 a.m. I love how this track pans out, at minute 1:50 there off, there’s a mix of beats there that switches things up and makes you wanna pack your car and invite a couple of people and jump around with beers! It’s a vibe man, you just can’t help but jam to it.

The crazy thing is mxguinness recorded everything in his own studio, and that’s why there’s soo much attention to detail on every note. It isn’t just mindless noise; there is a real story and feeling behind the rhythms. It’s “genre-fluid,” meaning it sits somewhere between techno and industrial music without ever getting stuck in one place.

Overall I’ll say “Chromatic Echoes” is a great beginning for mxguinness and his new label. Hey! Don’t go, stay with me cos he’s got more releases planned for the rest of 2026, and you can see it’s gonna be a good year. So whether you’re a fan of electronic music or not, this EP feels a bit more intelligent and atmospheric than the usual radio hits, and it’s a good place for those who don’t enjoy electronic music to start. And to me it’s a bold statement that says he’s done waiting in the wings.
