Consequential’s “Dark Sky” Turns Late Thoughts Into Motion

You know sometimes you want that connection with nature, experience those late night vibes and be alone with your thoughts. Where you’d want to experience an atmosphere that is calm yet moves, thoughtful and still finds it way not to be still. Such thoughts put together with a danceable beats is what Consequential has created on the single “Dark Sky“. A song that feels like it was made after midnight, when your phone is face down and your thoughts are a little louder than usual.

Something unique about “Dark Sky” is how it breathes into drum and bass without trying to show off. The beat pushes forward, steady and confident, like it knows where it is going even if you do not. There are layers tucked inside the track that reveal themselves slowly. You might catch one on headphones whilst you might actually miss it in the car and that’s part of the fun. Something that you can’t do away with and that how good music should be.

Now the beautiful thing that happened to the track is how it was recorded wholly on a computer, yet it feels fully human. Like someone actually took their time and knitted every layer, beat, string and vocal together. The moment you hit the play button, you’re glued and hooked by it upbeat. Then you’re taken into an atmosphere where you it feels like a reflection of late nights, tired eyes, and how you stare at the ceiling yet your brain can’t clock it. It lets you experience the emotional weight that comes from dealing with rough thoughts and trying to move past them. It doesn’t try to force anything, it just let you feel things the way you should feel them.

Usually many aren’t able to let the vocals move with the beats, but in here the vocal slips in naturally and fits the feeling without stealing the spotlight. It feels like a thought passing through your head, not a speech. The track does not rush toward a big moment. It builds trust instead, then consume you in agreement and lets you decide.

Knowing this comes right after a BBC Introducing mix makes sense. “Dark Sky” sounds like the work of someone locked in and focused. He’s not here to do trends, but trust me, he let’s the music do the talking. This is music made by someone paying attention to their inner world, and maybe to birds building nests while lying on the sofa.

Well “Dark Sky” ain’t your regular kinda song, the moment the beat drops, you realize you’re already vibing to it. It does it work quietly It quietly, and before you realize you’re already in love with it. So why don’t you go ahead and enjoy this music and see the magic that comes with it.
