I always say sometimes you don’t even need any noise, you don’t need any lyrics that will even let you reflect on them. All you need sometimes is beats and sound elements that will make you dance your feet off and shake off all your worries and that is what Lemons Always Zest, a 24-year-old bedroom producer hailing from the vibrant city of New York, has crafted into his latest EP titled “L.A.Z. 1”. An EP that is inspired by pulsating rhythms of the queer rave scene, Lemons Always Zest has indeed crafted a masterpiece that is gonna blow our mids with it’s intricate sounds to usher listeners onto the dancefloor and let them lay of their difficult emotions.
Setting the tone for the rest of the EP to follow is the first track titled “I Need More”. This is a track that takes you through a mesmerizing journey into euphoria without any struggle, with its relentless pursuit of ecstasy found in long disco instrumentals, the track just makes you enjoy the moment with it’s pulsating beats. It creates this atmosphere where you’ve longed for happiness that you use to struggle to get and now you have it without any problem, yea that feel-good energy and drive is what this track puts you in, allowing you to enjoy yourself to the brim. Another track that takes the highlight is “Chest Interlude”. This track is just amazing. It starts beautifully with this cautious sound elements that comes in and go, creating this feeling of staying in a calm place and this slow paced beats playing with some piano elements mixed in there and weaved together with intricate layers of sound that are pulsating and curious. The track then transport listeners into this heavenly place where you don’t wanna leave and just wanna stay there as long as you can. The EP then close with the track “Mycorrhizal Part 1. In this track ” Lemons Always Zest takes us all through a pulsating, yet melodic journey where haunting melodies infused with mysteries and wonder. The track is amazing and enjoyable, the way he crafted this makes you feel like you’ve been hit with a perplexity, with the track allowing you to explore this mysterious place it has created and just when you thought you’ve heard it all, the track ends in beautiful high tempo beats that changes it’s rhythm.
Well all I can say is that’s how you make an instrumental EP, you don’t just create for creating sake, you let the beats speak to the listener, you let it consume them and affect them in a way that will address a situation in their life. With intricate melodies, infused with pulsating electronic beats and melodies, I say this EP “L.A.Z. 1” just shows how talented Lemons Always Zest is as a producer, demonstrating his ability to create evocative instrumental compositions that goes beyond musical boundaries.
