4 min readWell music they say doesn’t have limits and what’s beautiful about music is, it can be created out of anything but that takes talent to do so and well I have SIR-VERE here who returns with a powerful statement in their latest single, “Destroya,” a song that serves as preview to the upcoming re-release of their album, ‘Lovescope.’ The album is set for release on January 26th, 2024, under the Worldsound // Virgin Music Group banner. Now what’s unique and enjoyable about SIR-VERE is how they infuse rock with dance jams that captures listeners attention and keeps them entertained. This i say gives the listener a unique feel and for SIR-VERE they just defies conventional genre boundaries. Well I can see you’re ready to get going already so put on your seatbelt and enjoy the ride through Destroya.
The song “Destroya” is a beautiful song that was birthed out of the chaos of the Covid lockdowns. Oh well what do I always tell you guys? Huh that the Covid lockdowns really did us good musically and brought out some real hot bangers and this beautiful song here is one. It’s a song that lay emphasis on all the chaos and struggles that came with the lockdown with specific inspiration from George Floyd’s words “I can’t breathe,” hinting at how the society has failed us and how in a way nature hit us hard with its wrath. What has our society become? Like very often these days no one cares even if a neighbor is being held by robbers or is getting bullied or getting treated badly, all we do is pull our phones and make videos without providing help. But we all humans , we just wanna breath and go about our lives. But sometimes people in power abuse their power over us and cripple us that we can’t even breath and have a sniff of life.
This song is really emotional even tho it has this dance vibe with those guitar riffs, drums and banging beats but carries a deep message that cautions us as humans, our relevance. the pandemic really did us dirty, with the lyrics of “Destroya” going deep into how deceptive it became, illness, and the silent specter of death. It paints a clear picture of a world dealing infections, epidemics, and the struggle to breathe, with a plea for life amidst the chaos. But what about now? The society is messed up and we ought to change that and this is a message that SIR-VERE through their song Destroya is sending out to us. What’s beautiful about this song is that, it doesn’t come alone, but has remixes from Rory Hoy, Vodzilla, and Sonale who adds another layer and dimension to the song’s interior motive. As the song goes on, you can hear “I wanna live, I’m a human walking..I can’t breathe ” hinting at a sense of struggle and uneasiness and how difficult it has become to live life normally when all we wanna do is go about our lives smoothly, so why the brutalities?
Why the negligence? Why is the society failing to raise responsible people these days? It’s really crazy out there. The song’s lyrics, beats and delivery to me is a solid 10/10 no cap. I love how it has this dance vibes which in a way keeps the listener entertained throughout without taking them away from the song’s message. It’s a must listen song that y’all need to get on and experience the magic SIR-VERE did on this one and how they create their music. Exemplifying the revitalized SIR-VERE in the ‘Lovescope’ era, “Destroya” showcases a fusion of live beats, synthesized textures, and a killer guitar riff influenced by AC/DC and James Brown. Frontman Craig Hammond and singer Ian McEwan intertwine seamlessly, creating a dynamic synergy that elevates the sonic landscape.
In Destroya SIR-VERE invites us all to join them on this musical journey through the complexities that the lockdown brought and life itself. The blend of genres, the lyrical depth, and the overall intensity make this track a formidable addition to the evolving narrative of our times. All the chaos the lockdown brought was really a Destroya, lost lives, illness and crazy stuffs we couldn’t imagine. So what you waiting for?
