Eddie Cohn – “Weight of the World” Is the Perfect Escape From Digital Overload

It ain’t easy when you take a look at the world now. Sometimes it makes you feel that there’s just too much going on in the world that you even can’t keep up. So I understand if you feel like your brain is melting from too many phone notifications, so I’ll say Eddie Cohn’s new song “Weight of the World” is the reality check you need. The song dropped on April 10, 2026, and I can say it’s a total breath of fresh air for anyone tired of the digital noise.

Eddie is a Los Angeles local who does it all, from writing to producing and playing everything from piano to percussion. But even for the most all doing and abled, sometimes you need to bring in others and also feel their touch, so he did something beautiful on this track. He actually teamed up with some heavy hitters in the LA scene, like bassist Sean Hurley and drummer Jake Reed, and that’s what makes the track special.

One thing is, even though they recorded parts of it in different places (including a studio in Hawaii!), the whole thing feels incredibly tight and connected. And for that I must give it to them, it gives the song a stripped back feel that carries this honesty in it. The way those guitar strings strikes your emotions are really intriguing and intricate, then the drums, and bass, which gives it this raw, punchy feel that reminds me of 90s grunge and Tom Petty. He also messed around with some cool layered vocals that give the track a lot of depth without making it feel cluttered.

Now let’s get to the story behind the track. This is something we all live every day. It’s about that constant hum of social media and news that never seems to stop. These days, information is everywhere, anywhere you go, it’s available there and this is making it a lot to take in for many. But don’t get it wrong cos Eddie ain’t hating on technology, but he’s definitely asking if our brains were actually meant to handle this much info at once. He’s not asking us to shut it all down, but he wants us to you know hop on that “let’s put the phone down” kinda vibe.

Well lemme tell you something funny here. Eddie is a huge cat lover. But what happened during the recording process is crazy, he said his two cats kept running into the room while he was recording his vocals. Even though he took his time and edited out all the meows, you might want to listen closely just in case one snuck in!

You know sometimes, you soak it all in and just let the music consume you, so if you need that one music that’s gonna take away all those digital noise and gives you room to think, then give “Weight of the World” a listen. It’s honest, beautiful and actually takes away that heavy burden off your back.
