Eye of TJ Drops Acoustic “Letting Go of You” Before Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is usually full of annoying heart-shaped chocolates and couples acting like they actually like each other. If you aren’t feeling the love this year, Eye of TJ has your back. On February 13th, he is dropping the acoustic version of his big hit, “Letting Go of You,” and it is the perfect anthem for anyone who is currently single and thriving—or just plain miserable.

The original version of this song was a loud, heavy rock track. It sounded like the exact moment a nine-year relationship finally snaps. You know that feeling when you just want to scream at the wall? That was the original. But this new acoustic version is what happens after the screaming stops. It’s the quiet, awkward silence that follows a big breakup.

By taking away the loud drums and the heavy guitars, Eye of  TJ lets the lyrics breathe. It feels a lot more personal, like you’re sitting in the room while he reads straight out of his private notebook. He wrote this song when his world was falling apart, and you can really feel that honesty. It’s raw, it’s a little sad, but it’s very real.

Eye of TJ is a pretty interesting project because he uses a digital voice to tell these super human stories. It sounds futuristic but also feels like the rock music we all grew up with in the early 2000s. It’s a cool mix that sets him apart from everyone else just strumming a guitar in their bedroom.

This release is building up to a deluxe version of his album coming out in March, so there is plenty more to look forward to. For now, if you’re spending Valentine’s week letting go of someone instead of holding on, put this track on repeat. It’s better than buying a box of cheap chocolates anyway.
