“FARMTIME” EP BY THE AMANDA EMBLEM: A MUSICAL JOURNEY THROUGH NATURE, LIFE, GROWTH AND DESIRE

Sometimes all you need is an experience with nature, go out sit and watch some waterfall, or walk through the woods and enjoy the breeze, sounds of nature and reflect on some moments in your life. Such an experience is what the new EP, FARMTIME, by Queensland, Australia band The Amanda Emblem Experiment, represents a natural progression of Amanda Emblem’s development as both musician and composer. The album comprises of five tracks, each of them in a different style: folk, singer-songwriter; rock and blues; acoustic and more. They also testify to Amanda Emblem’s progression through our ever mutating musical world.
The first track setting the stage for the rest of the EP to follow is the track titled “Waterfall”. This track is a poem of sound that introduces you to the huge, splendid world while blessing you at the same time with Amanda Emblem’s soothing vocals. The song played on acoustic guitar along with piano, flute, lay emphasis on how comfortable nature is and how one fan find comfort and peace while sitting and watching the waterfall. The lyrics of the song is about trust; there’s also some creative or alive inspiration in it which can only be seen during waterfalls. “Waterfall” is indeed the song it gradually reveals itself to be: a divine experience in which the human soul can find solace, comfort, peace and trust rather than some kind of track. Such an amazing masterpiece crafted with the finest of nature sounds to complement the song’s feel and message. The next track i will touch on is the song titled “Middle of the Night”. This song ushers listeners into the shadowed corners where the pulse sounds of dancing emerge from speakers and reflect the panicked beat of your heart. Like waking up in the middle of the night to hear some beats pumping out like that of your heartbeat only to get curious and trace the root of the beats and go meet whatever makes the night scarier. The song’s repetitious lyrics mimic the unbroken cycle of time. The song gives off this vibe that lay emphasis on how you wake up in the middle of the night to think and ponder on your life, where you just wanna throw everything out of the window and do something different. The song with its rocky rhythm infused with these haunting echoing voices takes the listener on a journey to experience this imaginary life of the night. Bring the EP to a beautiful ending is the track titled “Aphrodisia”. This song is powerful and full of life. It is a salute to life, love and the arts in Trojan times; Singing quietly to herself like Shang Yang in the moonlit shadow of strong night, Amanda Emblem brings tight silk threads together toward desire! Through alluring instrumentation and hypnotic rhythms she creates a work of art about love and desire. You hear lines like boys running after hound dogs, dancing under the moonlight on a creek full of moonbeams hints at how desire can act like an aphrodisia and ginger you to do things. This is how you create an album and make it worth the listeners’ time, the fusion of genres, deep resonating lyrics and the ability to blend them together without deviations is what makes Amanda Emblem who she is.
