Ferdinand Rennie Gives Us The Best Gift On “Christmas” Album

The thing is Some Christmas albums feel like background noise for wrapping gifts. But this one I’ve got here just hits different, it asks you to actually grab a beer and listen. Ferdinand Rennie’s album “Christmas” is warm, calm, and sung by someone who clearly knows how to use his voice without showing off too much. That alone feels like a gift.

Now here’s something I like a lot about what Rennie did on the album. He didn’t just create new songs, but also he took a some of the old classic Christmas songs and moulded them into a more beautiful tune. I love the way he doesn’t rush them, like he allows every string and note to breathe. With songs like Silver Bells and White Christmas, they bring that familiarity with them, they are soothing and gentle. They make you feel like you stepped into a room full of lightening with something cooking on the stove. The way his voice sits on the strings makes it feel like he’s singing it to you and not singing it at you. A strong voice that is not loud, but calm and gentle, easing your nerves and allowing you to have that holiday feel.

We all know these songs, O Holy Night and Silent Night Holy Night and they are ma top picks too. I love the variations that come with these songs and how Rennie kept them grounded. He makes them feel more emotional without being dramatic. You can actually feel how the track Hallelujah also follows this pattern, thanks to his experience with this kind of emotional songs. You can tell this is not his first winter season with a microphone.

The album also includes lesser-known tracks like Star of Wonder and Heavenly Song, which blend smoothly with the classics. What Rennie did is, he doesn’t make them feel out of place, he it as if he arranged the album in that order so by the time you reach the end in a Manger and Aud Lang Syne, you feel whole and complete, like a full evening rather than a random playlist. Knowing Rennie’s background in musical theatre makes a lot of sense here. He knows timing. He knows restraint. He knows when to lean in and when to step back. After three decades in music, that kind of control shows up naturally.

This is not a loud Christmas album. It will not fight your tree lights for attention. It sits comfortably in the room and improves the mood without asking for credit. If your holidays involve quiet moments, deep breaths, and maybe one extra cookie you did not plan on eating, this album fits right in.

Well this album “Christmas” ain’t your regular album for the holidays, in as much as it has some of the normal Christmas songs on here, it actually has a different tone and feel to it. It warm and welcoming nature makes it a top pick for this Christmas, so look no where, go ahead and enjoy your holidays cos It’s Christmas all over the World with this album.
