INDIAN TRAP & S.J. JANANIY’S DEBUT ALBUM “MANTRAS” FUSES TRADITION & MODERNITY IN A MUSICAL ODYSSEY
2 min readWhat do I tell you guys about debuts? Haha see you can’t deny talent, this is an album that has been cooked with the best of ingredients and trust me this is really a full package and a masterpiece. “MANTRAS”, the debut album by Indian Trap and S.J. Jananiy, which is made up of 17 tracks that take you on a spiritual journey, is finally released and fans are going crazy over it. Released under iTrap Records, this album is a combination of traditional Indian mantras with hip hop, trap, and world rhythms released by the duo.
The Indian flutes, drums, melodic synths, temple bells and the 808 basses that start the album are just amazing. The album begins with the song “Muladhara” which is a mantra focused on the first chakra and it prepares the way for what follows. Each track on the album is dedicated to a specific deity or chakra and it celebrates gods and goddesses such as Shiva, Durga, Vishnu, and more. It’s an album that’s full culture and also infused with modern touch.
The production of the album led by J2 (Indian Trap) shows how amazing combining Indian instruments and chants with modern sounds or genres can really be. One of remarkable aspects of “MANTRAS” is how it was campaigned. The tracks actually come with animated videos which features Jananiy performing the mantras and celebrating each deity and this got a lot of people talking which was a great way to promote and market the album’s release.
“MANTRAS” is more than just an album, it’s a very spiritual album that perfectly shows Indian culture, their music, their religions and it does so in way that will amaze you. As the album is submitted for consideration in the 66th Annual GRAMMYS Awards, it shows just how much Indian trap and S.J. Jananiy poured their heart and soul into making this amazing piece of work. This is an album you wouldn’t wanna miss even for the world. Make sure to check them out on the links below for more info;
