Indolore – “Terry” Will Hit You Right in the Heart

If you aren’t familiar with the name Terry Reid, stop what you’re doing and look him up. Aretha Franklin once said there were only three things happening in England in the late sixties: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Terry Reid. He was a giant, the kind of singer who changed the lives of everyone who heard him.

One of the people whose life he changed was a French indie-folk artist named Indolore (real name Guillaume Simon). Their story sounds like something out of a movie. Back in 2008, Guillaume watched a documentary, tracked Terry down near the Mojave Desert, and somehow convinced the legend to fly to Paris to record. They became fast friends, and that bond lasted nearly twenty years.

Indolore just released a new single simply titled “Terry,” and it is one of the most moving things I’ve heard in a long time. The track wasn’t actually meant to be a goodbye. Guillaume wrote it early last year as a “musical letter” to tell his friend how much he admired him. But by the summer of 2025, Terry’s health took a bad turn. Guillaume rushed to finish the song and sent it over just in time. Terry got to hear it before he passed away, and apparently, it moved him deeply. Now, what started as a tribute to a living friend has become a beautiful farewell.

The song itself is soulful and stripped back. It was recorded live in a studio in Paris, and you can really feel that “live” energy. It’s got this warm, vintage feel—think along the lines of Nick Drake or Elliott Smith. There’s a lot of heart in the vocals, and the addition of the Wurlitzer and steel guitar gives it a dusty, Americana vibe that fits Terry’s legacy perfectly.

It even caught the ear of Graham Nash (yeah, that Graham Nash), who called it a “wonderful song.” When a guy from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame gives you a thumbs up, you know you’re doing something right.

“Terry” is the lead single from Indolore’s upcoming EP, La Vie Side B, which is coming out later this spring. It’s a sad song, sure, but it’s also full of “luminous melancholy,” as Guillaume likes to call it. It doesn’t feel heavy or depressing; it feels like a warm hug for a friend who isn’t there anymore.

Now this is music that actually has a soul and a real story behind it, so why don’t you check this out. And like Indolore says, once you listen to this tribute, you’re probably going to want to go back and dive into Terry Reid’s catalog, too. Honestly, that’s the best way to honor a legend. The single is officially out now on all platforms. Give it a listen, and maybe call a friend you haven’t talked to in a while. Enjoy More From Indolore here;
