MY FRIEND THE CHIMPANZEE’S “2PARADISE” EP: A CALL TO ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS AND RESILIENCE

One thing we keep failing is how we take care of our environment, our activities keeps destroying our environment, even though we ain’t meant to live forever, but if we keep destroying it, will the it have a future? It was better back in the days, but our modern activities are even making things worse and we just ought to do better. We can’t give up the fight and let things slide, it’s our means of survival and if it gets destroyed then that’s it for us. Then again, even the environment we don’t wanna give up on, so imagine our lives. Are you gonna give up on life because it’s not better today? Are you gonna give up on everything you’ve worked on to get to this stage just because you’re missing the final piece that is costly? Well nope, I don’t think you should. And these situations is what the band My Friend The Chimpanzee has put together to create a melodious 3 track EP titled “2Paradise”. And from the EP, a song that stands out for me is the self titled track 2Paradise, song that talks about our environment and its degradation, while hinting on why we should never give up in life. The Band comprises of the emphatic duo, Josef Umschaid (Beats, FX), Lukas Wieser (Guitar, Synth, Vocals), together they have created a masterpiece that keeps the human spirit alive with its intricate, dynamic and melodious beats and message.
Now the EP which was recorded at Josef’s Studio was produced by Josef Umschaid, Lukas Wieser, Cohen Yusha (Stem Mastering). When you listen to the EP, you realize how the influences of John Frusciante, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire are evident in the EP’s creative patterns. Well My Friend The Chimpanzee really crafted this masterpiece to give listeners a taste of good music with top notch production. Now this song 2Paradise is just awesome and what they did on this track is soo beautiful, the duo blended intricate beats, ambient effects, and touching lyrical content together, which goes on to demonstrate their evolution as musicians and producers. The secret here is, the moment you hit that play button on this track, there’s no going back and you get glued and hooked soo much that you begin to listen to the rest of the EP. Even if nothing catches your attention, the beats are gonna sweep you away, wow, such a beautiful form of orgasm to ears and soul. Now “2Paradise,” starts amazingly with atmospheric synths blended layered guitar riffs, which drives the drums to create an immersive listening experience while infusing it with introspective lyrics and feel. The song which was inspired by Hanya Yanagihara’s novel ‘To Paradise’, explores the paradox of environmental destruction driven by modern lifestyles. Then as the song goes on you hear lines like “We’ve been careless in our endeavors,” and “It’s 39 degrees outside the forest blaze,” hinting at what our careless activities has caused the environment and now we have to experience the consequences. Something that would have been avoided, but our carelessness has put us in a situation where we have to live with it. What’s lovely about the song is how it musical arrangement mirrors this tension, with a mix of serene and unsettling tones that transports the listener into the atmosphere of the song’s themes. Then as the song progresses, you realize how it also lay emphasis on how we have to keep moving on in life even amidst all the chaos surrounding us. We can’t give up, you’re not meant to live forever, so make your dreams a reality, keep going and live life the way you want it. We’ve already been careless so what’s there to fear again? Don’t give up in life, the damage has already been done, giving up only worsens it, this is captured in the lines, “Keep it up little warrior, you feel lost with pride” and “We might never again go unsure” emphasize resilience and introspection, encouraging listeners to find hope and purpose even if everything seems to be destroying, never give up.
Well 2Paradise EP is really an intriguing masterpiece, the way they blended intricate melodies with introspective and touching lyrics to uplift the listener even in times of difficulties, yet scold them of their actions and still give them hope to keep going. To me just the self titled song tells you all you need to expect from the remaining tracks, it’s touching, beautifully arranged and addictive, the hooks are just crazy and the beats will leave you listening to it whole day and enjoying it.
