I have here an EP that captures the impacts of dementia and it comes from no other than Avaraj. She titled this one “Precious Memories,” a soul-stirring tribute to her late grandmother and a heartfelt exploration of the devastating impacts of dementia on both the afflicted and their families. The song binds together the past and present and focuses on how they would have gotten an extra hand or support. Going through this sh** alone is one thing I wouldn’t wish on anyone or my greatest enemy, it’s devastating and heartbreaking.
The next track on the EP is “Never Fade”. A track that talks about Avaraj’s unwavering love and acceptance, even though she witnessed everything that happened to her granny. What’s beautiful and unique about this track is how she smoothly plays this soulful guitar melodies and blends them together with her beautiful vocals which mirrors her forever commitment to ensuring the importance of her grandma’s memories are protected. This is a track that pays homage to her granny and how she doesn’t want her legacy or memories lost. Often a time we all have that one person dear to our hearts that no matter what, we wouldn’t want their memories gone just like that.
Now to what has been a fruitful journey and closes the EP is the final track “Won’t Forget Her.” This is a track that acts a tribute to her late grandma, the track talks about the devastating moments her mother goes through and with the fear her mother may also go through a similar fate and forgotten memories. If you payed attention really well, you’d realize she really arranged the EP very well, with each track continuing the story of the previous track and that tells you how talented Avaraj is and she beautifully captures listener’s attention with her creativity.
