Real Feelings, Big Sound: PRYZME’s “True Stories… And Other Lies”

2 min read

PRYZME’s latest album ‘True Stories… And Other Lies’ has a strength of music and a sincerity of lyrics that’s undeniable. The band blends rock, jazz, funk, and softer melodies so seamlessly and in a way that sounds so natural. Every song on this album is a story—sometimes very deep, sometimes dreamy, sometimes both—but always personal. “Echo of Silent Place” sets a mood as it opens with a quiet sound that gradually intensifies. A gentle yet powerful singing melody weaves its way through mellow guitar and percussion.

“Earth Song” is an anthem, an ode to Mother Earth herself. It is projected through a gentler sound with a more subtle yet forceful vibe. A quiet warning to a somber and heavy truth. “End of the Anger” picks up the pace a bit, with more fluctuation of rhythm, increased intensity of musical energy and pure raw feeling. The theme is somewhat about internal struggle with suppressed emotion, the passion of anger, and how to release it. “Green Eyes” is softer and more sentimental. The vibe of this track is like an emotive memory made song, with a melody and lyrics that paint the picture of someone’s most treasured love. “Reality of Dreams” has a hypnotic quality to it. There are both softer and harder hitting parts to it, a dreamy essence but at the same time a theme of striving for an answer to a stream of overthinking.

“Never Again” is a bit more serious and forceful. It is like a vow or a cathartic determination made in the wake of heartbreak and turmoil. “Silent Place” is the final track, and what a finisher! It provides time to breathe, to digest and reflect, and makes for a wonderful capper to the release. ‘True Stories… And Other Lies’ is deep, warm, and extremely relatable. The sincerity of music, the passion in the expression, and the intelligence of the content all shine through. It is easily not just for those that are fans of rock but for anyone who is a fan of truly expressive music that gets you feeling something.
