3 min read

Have you enjoyed something good this week? I know you have but guess what, I’m here to serve you something that’s even better than anything you’ve enjoyed this week and it’s from Rupert Cox, a pianist since age 5 crazy right, oh well he’s served us a better taste this week with his debut album “Search Party”. An album set to take you on a journey of blended downtempo jazz, beautiful soundscapes and angelic melodies that’s calm and beautiful.

Rupert Cox is a hot cake and sought after artist, collaborating with Artists like China Moses, Myele Manzanza and Judi Jackson, you should know you’re in for a treat. He collaborated with artist like Chris Hyson, Mohan Evans, Soren Bryce, Yusef Ahmed, and Thom Gill, and they all smashed it on the album. Are you sure you wanna miss this one? Go grab your seatbelt and ready up for sweet rollercoaster ride.

“Search Party”, haha this is one of the best soundtracks albums I’ve heard this week. You don’t really get many who can create a diverse range of sounds like Rupert Cox does. The album begins with a track titled “The nowhere dance”. This track sets the album ablaze with those jazzy drums and kicks, the way the piano and all the other elements join in one after the other is awesome , and the best part is it’s got that dance vibes where you don’t need to be too busy, you can just sit and dance like you going nowhere haha.

The next track is Fig tree, this track has got some nature vibes and really a slow tempo one which gets you calm down from the first track, then Summer wake comes in with another vibe that you enjoy when it’s lonely out there. After this track is ma next favorite Heart, track starts off mid tempo but slightly goes up as the song unfolds and wow, the beats and tones in there makes it a cool track for your search party. Then comes in Lament, a track that has this R&B vibe that I love Soo much. Oh you think we done?? Haha nope lemme take you to the track that blazes the album, the self titled track Search Party, this track comes with some amazing vocals from Soren Bryce. It’s a beautiful track to take you on the journey and under the party, you just have to be careful with this track, the vocals can get you addicted to the whole album . Man you created this sh** Soo well, hugs to you. If I were you I wouldn’t be hear now, haha would be on ma way to have a feel of this album filled with beautiful melodic soundtracks coupled with some sweet sensational vocals.

The album has received good remarks from big dawgs in the music industry and it’s already setting the scenes on fire, Jacob Collier hails it as a “journey for the soul,” while Jamie Cullum describes it as a “beautiful crossover of jazz and dance music.” Brad Mehldau emphasizes the album’s storytelling. According to Cox, he wanted the whole album to have that Authentic feel and it’s vulnerability of “Search Party”, having a feeling of loss, joy and a sense of belonging all crafted into the album, while creating an emotional experience that the listener can relate to when listening.

I always tell you guys, never miss debuts, cos it’s what? Where all the magic happens, so go ahead and give Search Party a listen and treat yourself to something better this week.
