“Thrash King” by Frequency Overload Is Fast, Loud, and Brutal

For those that wants the noise, believe in the noise and live the noise, this is for you. So if you have ever spent a Tuesday morning nursing a bruised rib and a ringing ear after a concert, then Long Island’s own Frequency Overload has a new song that will make you want to do it all over again. Their latest track is called “Thrash King,” and it is essentially a four-minute invitation to get punched in the face in a dark room.

These guys aren’t exactly new to the scene. The band is like a Long Island metal supergroup. You’ve got Corey Schaefer on guitar, who spent years touring with Devil Driver, and Kevin Daily on drums, who used to smash cymbals for the local legends Exit Verona. Throw in Steve Little on bass and a singer who goes by Mr. Bush—who calls himself a “chokalist”—and you have a group of guys who have played thousands of shows. They finally got together in 2022, and clearly, they haven’t lost any of that aggression.

Thrash King” is a total high-speed assault. It doesn’t try to be fancy or overthink things. It’s just fast riffs and galloping drums that make you want to start a circle pit in your living room. The song is a huge tribute to the “pit warriors”—the fans who spend their nights getting elbowed and shoved around just for the adrenaline rush.

The track really leans into that classic thrash feel. It reminds me of the energy you get from bands like Anthrax or Exodus. It’s got that “Toxic Waltz” vibe where the music is designed specifically for people to lose their minds to. The chorus is a massive battle cry: “Grab your crown, you are the thrash king!” It’s basically telling every metalhead that they are the royalty of the mosh pit.

One of the best things about the song is how honest it feels. There are no gimmicks or long-winded lectures. It’s just about the sweat, the bruises, and that weird sense of unity you only find when a bunch of strangers are slamming into each other. It’s loud, it’s unapologetic, and it’s very New York.

If you’ve been missing that raw, old-school speed, go check out the video. It’s the perfect soundtrack for anyone who lives for the moment the riff hits and the floor turns into chaos. Just maybe warn your neighbors before you turn the volume all the way up haha.
