Relationships are weird these days, I mean even for young people it’s quite a exhausting so imagine trying to find love later in life? That’s a whole different ballgame. It’s like you know too much, you know exactly what you want, and you definitely do not have time to play games making it quite difficult to settle just for anything to grow it. Ealing-based independent artist 50mething explores that stressful feeling on his new single, “These fine lines“. At age 58, this former dancer is making some seriously good electronic music right from his home studio.
One thing I like about this track is how incredibly clean and sophisticated the production feels. It doesn’t t hit you over the head with loud, obnoxious beats. Instead, it draws you in with a very delicate, gorgeous short riff. If you’re a fan of Ryuichi Sakamoto, you will immediately hear a bit of that subtle, emotional style shining through here. Everything feels completely intentional with the way the electronic elements are warm and inviting, skipping anything cold or static. He used online mixing and mastering services to polish it up, and honestly, the final product sounds just as good as anything coming out of a major record label.
Now “These fine lines” is really an intriguing track, the track talks about all the realities of finding love again as an older adult, which I think is quite hectic but now impossible.
