3 min read

After waiting for so long, Mark Vickness is finally releasing his instrumental album, “In The Rain Shadow”. I can promise you that the instrumentals on this album is like nothing you’ve ever heard before. After listening to this album you’ll feel like you just listened to nature itself. It’s a pure magic nature-like album.

“Most of the music on In The Rain Shadow takes its inspiration from moving to the high desert (California’s Owens Valley) in late 2020. We live literally in the rain shadow, which is a meteorological term meaning on the sheltered side of a mountain range where there is less precipitation because of the wind patterns. Most of the titles on this recording are taken from geological or meteorological features we experience daily. These compositions are intended to reflect a new appreciation for the opportunity to absorb the wonders of living in the rain shadow. It is humbling, awesome, peaceful, thrilling, tranquil and beautiful.”

Believe it or not but this album was actually inspired by the view of a high desert and even the titles of the tracks on the albums are gotten from geological features. You gotta admit it, it’s really amazing and insane how the entire album is based on nature. I guess we know why the tracks are all peaceful, beautiful and just so amazing. From the very first track you get hooked to listen to more, the arrangements of each track is very nice, keeps you tuned to everything the album is about. The first track High desert has this sunset vibe that I love Soo much, like the west cowboy vibes haha, man that track is heavenly and then Cloud Shadows, another track that is low tempo ridden, giving you that chilly vibe you need. This particular track grows on you giving you space to enjoy it even more. Then comes in On The Cliffs of mohr, the beging of this track is everything then it takes a sweet turn and puts in some mid tempo dance like tunes, wow. See just go listen to the whole album and trust me you gonna be smiling throughout the day.

With MVI consisting of 7 members with each being a master in different genre, that end up mixing different genres like Jazz, Classical, progressive rock and others, to make songs that shows what happens when you bring together great musical talents from different genres. One of the very first reasons why MVI even came together was to show people we’re in the same human people and we’re all one people. With each member being very good at different genres, anytime they come together to make something, they end up making a masterpiece.

Mark Vickness tries as much as possible to express his gratitude to the members in MVI as he knows that without each and everyone of them, they wouldn’t be able to the masterpieces they make. In every track they make, you can hear the mutual talent and understanding between these geniuses.

“In The Rain Shadow” shows the type of music that can be made when talented artists come together to make something new. Mark Vickness and MVI have really made one hell of a masterpiece that will leave a lasting impression on anyone who listens to this album. Make sure to check out MVI on these links below;
