Well it’s no wonder that Mafalda Minnozzi’s musical odyssey is too wide to stay here. My goodness, with over 20 albums blending Italian and American classics, Brazilian Bossa, Samba, and a touch of French chanson, she becomes a standout amongst her peers as an international force in the world of jazz vocals. Now her latest release, “Natural Impression,” just continues her masterful ability to break boundaries and defy genres. Welcome aboard for what promises to be an intriguing musical journey through sounds and vocals in the jazz world. This album is filled with covers that promises to take listeners on an impressive journey that will live with them forever.
This masterpiece becomes a collaborative journey including jazz heavyweights like John Patitucci, Don Byron, Michael Wolff, Helio Alves, Doug Beavers, Joe Locke, and Bossa Nova legend Roberto Menescal. Her collaboration on “Natural Impression” attest to how talented and influential she’s in the jazz and global music scenes. This is an album that comprises of 15 beautiful soundscapes blended with some vocals to keep listeners glued, entertained and resonates with them. Minnozzi here has a beautiful impact which goes beyond borders, especially with how her jazz releases made massive waves on the USA jazz radio circuit. From the very first track “Águas De Março”, listeners’ attention are captured with the way those vocals slowly picks up the piano notes and keeps them together, creating a beautiful relaxing melody that brings this international concert performances that lives with you forever. Like a sit, relax and enjoy musical experience thingy, I love the composition soo much, it’s lovely engaging and entertaining. Another track on the album that caught my attention is “Começar De Novo”. This track is soo relaxing and gives this night out alone with your significant other, enjoying some beautiful moments together where nothing matters to you. All you care about is your moments and memories that night will bring. It’s soo emotional and connects your soul to the song with the way the vocals pans out and blends Soo well with those piano tones and drums.
This is just two tracks from the album, so just imagine what the rest of the album feels like, man, it’s soo magical the way the next track comes in. “Mas Que Nada”, I love how this song starts off , those inviting piano elements blended with sweet intriguing trumpets and trombones where the trumpet lays back and let’s the vocals takes centre stage, without fading away. It’s a like being at an event made for music, where you just sit, relax and let the music flow through you. Lovely creativity this one.
