5 min read

Music they say is just more than sounds and words put together, music is a food that feeds the soul, either with joy, hope, resilience, memories or bring change to the listener. Then when you have a song that is soo good, you’d wish it never ends and you begin to yearn for more and that’s why albums are created. Have you ever listened to an album soo good that you begin to shed tears and let the music heal you and strike your soul. This feeling of love, coming of age, and self worth is what Emma Grace from Indian River Music Company has for us on her album titled “Changing.” An album that infuses soft rock and pop elements, topped with a soothing angelic voice that penetrates your soul, crashes you and leaves you in awe. One thing I love about this album is how beautiful it is, the way it gives you vibes of Billie Eilish and drops heavy emotional content on you, you just can’t help but sing along and dig the vibe. It’s emotional, evocative and above all magnificent, and trust me, you don’t wanna miss out on this.

If you have listened to Emma Grace before, you’d realize how intricate this album is, the way she crafts her lyrics to pierce you, and get you in your feels is unmatched, then those soulful melodies and sounds, my goodness, you just can’t help but fall in love with her. This album “Changing” is all about love, it painful moments, then you’re hit with moments where you realize age is catching up with you and life comes crashing, then topped with prioritizing your self worth. But what’s unique is how she arranged the songs, the 10 songs on here will have you wanting for more. Each comes with their own experiences and vibe like no other, cos they all relatable af and deeply personal. So grab your seatbelt for a beautiful emotional journey throughout. Now setting the tone for the rest of the album is opening track titled “Change.” This song is immaculate, the way those guitar strings immediately consumes your thoughts with its theme of change and uncertainty. The song beautifully creates this atmosphere, and transports you to this dreamy land where you’re just wandering around with a lot on your mind but with hope you will prevail as long as you keep pushing. Life is crazy and sometimes hit us soo hard that we begin to feel empty, and sometimes we just become scared of what may happen or may not, you get confused and just do anything hoping it turns out right. The song emotional content is just too much to hold on without shedding a tear, when the thought of adulthood sets in, it’s all anguish and moans, feeling if this is what you thought it would be, you’d have remained a child. You wish you could go back in time but you just have to be resilient and keep pushing, knowing very well from lines like “The change will be scary, The obstacles will vary, But I know I’ll be okay,” acting as a beacon of hope and a source of strength for you dealing with the uncertainties of life. This song is indeed a powerful reminder that life can be cruel and can change at anytime, but in all let’s be positive and carry on. Now that’s how you start an album, a song that will keep the listener glued to see what the next song offers and how the album pans out. Well I can say Emma Grace, you nailed it, and I love the album.

Another track that just won’t let you be is the track titled “Let it Linger.” This song beautifully catches your attention the moment you hit that play button, with its touching, soothing and intricate melodies moving through your veins and consuming your thoughts and striking a core to open those lingering memories of unrequited love. Those acoustic strings just won’t let you be, the way they keep growing and fading just pushes the song’s message of lingering memories and how difficult you can’t keep them away. Love is a beautiful thing that everyone wish to experience, but when you love and you’re not loved back like you did, it hurts and breaks you, then the moment they say it’s over, it’s like a part of you is gone. You get broken, but change has to come and you have to deal with it, sometimes you don’t know where you headed cos your thoughts are filled with memories of them. Man, you’re hit hard by this song with Emma Grace’s vocals, then the way it’s delivered in a haunting and sincere manner just makes you wanna shed tears of a past experience. The song captures the bittersweet moments of the pain you experienced in some past relationships and I can’t help but love the track. Then as the song progresses you hear lines like “I wonder if I ever cross your mind, ‘Cause although I hate to say you’re still on mine,” portrays the struggle to move on from a lost love. Then when you thought you’ve heard it all, you’re hit hard with the chorus, “let it linger just a little longer,” amazingly capturing inner conflict of holding on to fleeting moments. Ending the album in style is the beautiful track “Breathe,” an instrumental track, that gives the listener room to ponder on everything and rather take a deep breath and keep going. What’s beautiful about this track is it’s calming nature, it puts all pressures away, allows you to immerse yourself into its atmosphere and let’s you reflect on the emotional rollercoaster you’ve been through from the other tracks, such a beautiful and thoughtful way to end an album. Now that’s how you make an album, something to get your listeners glued to listen to all the tracks, then something to give them a good ending and allows them to repeat the album again.

Well “Changing” by Emma Grace is indeed an epitome of beauty, a pure class above all and a crazily filled emotional resonating tracks that just makes wants more. The depth of the lyrics, the melodies and sounds in here, topped with a top notch production and delivery, I can boldly say this is a 10/10 album and one that deserves your attention. So go ahead and give this album a listen and trust me, you will come back here to thank me. To Emma Grace, I love you and thanks for this masterpiece, you’re a gem. ENJOY!!
