“Echoes of Silence” EP– A Quiet Storm from Dan Becker

Dan Becker’s upcoming EP Echoes of Silence feels like the kind of project someone makes after sitting alone with their thoughts a little too long… in a good way. It comes out January 2, 2026, and even though it is a small collection, it carries a lot of weight. Becker strips everything down to the basics: one piano, one room, and the kind of stillness that either heals you or makes you question all your life choices. Sometimes both.

This EP follows a steady line of releases from Becker. Dialogue had warmth, Abject punched you in the feelings, and Pushing Buttons carried a bit of everything. Echoes of Silence is different. This time he cuts the music down to its bones. No tricks, no extra layers, no dramatic studio magic. Just a Yamaha Grand piano in a quiet room in Western Massachusetts, doing its thing.

Becker says silence has its own rhythm. Most people avoid silence unless they’re trying to hide from someone, but he leans right into it. Each track feels like he’s letting space talk back. Quiet opens the EP and moves slowly, almost like it’s trying not to wake anyone up. Solace feels like a deep breath after a long day. The title track Echoes of Silence floats along in a way that makes you forget time is even passing.

This EP plays like someone finally stopped running from their thoughts and decided to sit with them instead. Becker has said he’s reached a place of acceptance after exploring connection, grief, anger, and resolution in his earlier works. If those albums were storms, this one is the moment when everything settles and you can hear your own heartbeat again. Comforting, but also slightly unsettling, depending on the day.

The thing about Becker is that he didn’t grow up wanting to become the next classical prodigy. He bounced around creatively—guitar, bands, questionable teenage life choices—and eventually circled back to the piano around age seventeen. Now, he writes music like someone who has lived a little and doesn’t feel the need to show off. Well he started a Kickstarter campaign, go check it out and see the beauty in his creativity.

Fans of Max Richter, Nils Frahm, or Ólafur Arnalds will recognize the calm intensity in Becker’s work, but he still sounds like himself. He has this habit of turning messy emotions into simple notes that somehow hit harder because of how stripped down they are. As he puts it, music is pain turned into beauty. It’s the kind of quote that probably belongs on a mug, but he actually means it.

Echoes of Silence will be available on all major streaming platforms, along with CDs and vinyl for those who like to hold music in their hands and feel superior about it. But here’s the catch, if you pre order or go for the CD or vinyl, you get 6 bonus tracks earlier than their actual release date in April next year. So pre order now here and enjoy the full experience early!

Even as a pre-release, one thing feels clear: this EP will land quietly but leave a mark. Dan Becker isn’t trying to be flashy. He isn’t trying to be loud. He’s simply telling the truth in the simplest way he knows how. And honestly, that might be the bravest part.
