Chandra – “Boom” Is Catchy, Loud, and Sincere

It’s ain’t easy in the industry and a lot do happens that we know little of. Well if you’ve been following the band Chandra for a while, you might have noticed they went a little quiet on the press front lately. Being a completely independent band is tough on the wallet, and they recently admitted they had to hit the brakes on marketing to save up some cash. But the good news is they are back, and their new single “Boom” was definitely worth the wait.

Chandra usually gives us those massive, windows-down anthems that make you want to scream-sing in your car. This new one still has those big hooks, but it feels a bit more “soul-gazing” and spiritual. It’s a love song, but not the cheesy kind you hear in grocery stores. Chandra Nair, the frontman, says he never actually intended to write a love song, but he got obsessed with the idea of soul mates finding each other in this giant, messy universe.

The track is a really wild mix of sounds. You get the classic power pop riffs the band is known for, but then they throw in tribal chants and even some “spaghetti western” whistling. It sounds like a lot on paper, but in your ears, it just works. It makes the song feel warm and fuzzy, like a big emotional hug.

The lyrics are pretty fun and a bit cheeky, too. There are lines about being a “cold stick of dynamite” or a “space-cruising meteorite” just waiting for that one person to make everything go boom. It’s got a great energy that builds up until the chorus hits, and then you’re basically stuck with it in your head for the rest of the day.

Chandra is made up of Mike Paul on lead guitar, Chris Wong on bass, and of course, Chandra Nair on vocals. They’ve committed to putting out a new song and video every two months this year, so they are staying busy. If you like bands like The Killers or Imagine Dragons, but you want something that feels a bit more personal and grounded, this is for you.

“Boom” is the second single they’ve dropped in 2026, and it’s a perfect addition to any feel-good playlist. It’s sincere, it’s loud, and it’s got a whole lot of heart. Honestly, in a world that can feel pretty cold sometimes, a song about the “miracle” of finding your person is a nice change of pace. Go give it a listen and see if it doesn’t make you feel a little more optimistic about the universe. Enjoy More From Chandra here;
