Mourning Dove – “Odiati dalla Vita stessa” Calls Out Online Cruelty
These days, people do a lot of things that you think of it and you’re like wow, this is really out of line. They go all length on social media and be soo mean to people that sometimes you scroll through posts, read some comments and ask yourself, “When did everyone become so mean?” It feels like people pick fights online for fun these days. Hatred has almost turned into a competitive hobby, people always wants to be the meanest person and go viral just for the sake of it without ever thinking of the other person affected.

Well Italian solo project Mourning Dove talks about this ugly reality on their latest single, “Odiati dalla Vita stessa” (which translates to ‘Hated by Life Itself’). Do you know the craziest thing about this release? Tell you what, it was actually the very first song Mourning Dove ever wrote years ago. You could see he was waiting for the right moment to give it the loud, aggressive rock production it always deserved.
“Odiati dalla Vita stessa” drops all polite manners from the very first moment. The track which was recorded entirely in a home bedroom studio, skips soft background tones and goes straight for high-energy hard rock. The way it starts is really interesting, the vocals starts calmly for a few seconds then grows into this roaring beautiful pitch that strikes your emotions. It feels like something is brewing and you waiting for it to explode. I like how it moves far away from easy listening, using heavy, distorted guitar riffs that drives right through the record.
The drum beats hit hard and keeps an urgent tempo that feels like a racing pulse. Deep basslines roll underneath the heavy guitar work, anchoring the song with a dark, gritty foundation. Then we meet the vocals, and just like I said earlier, Mourning Dove delivers an intense performance full of raw emotion and force. You can hear every bit of passion in the delivery, blending classic theatrical power with edgy modern rock. The lyrics which was inspired by the emotional themes of the Vocaloid track ‘Kokoronashi’, “Odiati dalla Vita stessa” takes a hard look at modern cruelty. Even though it ain’t in English, you can actually feel everything he saying in the vocals.
It calls out how people practice hatred as if it were a casual sport, throwing insults around without caring who gets hurt. They would do anything to get the next banger tweet or post without taking into consideration the mental health of the receiver. To them it’s just an online banter, but to others it’s really just like standing in front of them and saying it to their face, making it hit like a cold bucket of water thrown at you. The track forces us to look in the mirror and rethink how we treat each other every day. It’s like we don’t care again, friends be doing the meanest of sh!t to each other and later call themselves friends. It’s crazy for real.
At the same time, releasing this song represents personal self-acceptance for the artist. It shows that your past ideas are still valuable, even as your skills grow. It turns old doubts into a powerful symbol of rebirth and moving forward. So don’t throw the past away, for they may be the way forward someday. Mourning Dove proves that you do not need a massive professional studio to make a heavy, impactful rock track. It’s aggressive, honest, and packs a strong social message that many will relate to in our current chaotic world. This is track packed with lots of energy and will always hit close to home. Go give it a listen and change your ways if you part of Internet trolls!
