Timothy O Just Dropped “These Streets” and It’s Pure Feel-Good Energy

Life always has a funny way of making things feel as tho that’s how things were supposed to be. That sometimes we even doubt the very particular people that are very close to us, the very people that makes us complete, the very people that stand by us through any storm and then we begin to question if maybe that’s what the universe wanted and thus things were supposed to be that way. Well I’ve got ma man here, Timothy O, who is usually known for more of a pop and electronic vibe, but he just took a sharp turn into country-pop with his new single, “These Streets.”

And honestly, I can say it makes a perfect sense once you hear the story behind it. For someone who grew up in a house in Victoria, BC, where his parents constantly played country records, I can say this track feels like he’s finally letting that side of his soul out for a walk and it’s really a breath of fresh air.

The song which dropped on April 10th, is pretty much a “summer in a bottle” kind of track. Why do I say so? Well it’s got all the classic country trimmings—pedal steel, mandolin, and a fiddle that really ties everything together—but it’s wrapped in that polished pop production where things feel very modern and interesting. To me, I think it’s the kind of music you’d play while driving to a cabin or hanging out at a backyard BBQ.

Now what makes “These Streets” stand out is how genuine the lyrics feel. Not many artist are able to craft deep lyrics and let it feel light hearted. But here’s the catch, Timothy is approaching his seventh year with his partner, and he’s clearly in a very happy, grateful headspace. He uses this great line about fireworks lighting up the streets to describe the feeling of being with someone who brings joy back into your life after you’ve spent years doubting things. There’s even a funny, very relatable line where he compares their relationship to a “well-balanced bottle of wine.” I mean we’ve all had those days where life tastes a bit sour, so finding those “notes” of happiness is a big win.

What intrigues me most is how the vocals move from these really gentle, emotional verses to a big, harmony-filled chorus that you’ll probably find yourself humming for the rest of the day. It was produced by Steve Kroeger, who has worked on some massive hits, and you can tell. Everything sounds crisp, but it still has that warm, organic country heart.

It is also pretty inspiring to know that Timothy took a huge break from music decades ago due to an epilepsy diagnosis and is only now getting back into his groove. You can hear that “second chance” energy in every note. It’s a thank you to his parents and a celebration of where he is right now.

So if you need a break from all the heavy stuff going on in the world, grab your boots and give “These Streets” a listen. It’s got everything you need, it’s light, it’s happy, and it’s a great reminder to appreciate the people walking beside you.
