You know music can be a humbler, but sometimes it’s all you’ve got. But have you ever listened to a song and thought, “I have absolutely no idea what is happening, but I can’t stop listening”? That’s pretty much the vibe with Christopher Rodriguez and his new track, “Whom Seek Ye.”

Well Christopher is a busy guy from Pueblo, Colorado. He’s a husband and a father of five, and I can tell he doesn’t sleep when it comes to his music, cos tell me why he already has over seventy songs on YouTube this year alone. Whereas I can barely manage to do my laundry even once a week, so that kind of work ethic is honestly a little intimidating and something that tells a lot about the kind of man he is! According to him, Pueblo is the “Home of the Heroes,” and you can tell he brings that tough, resilient energy into his music.
Now this single is really an eye opener and sounds like nothing you’ve heard on the radio. Christopher says there is literally no other song like it when it comes to the lyrics, and I kinda agree with him. Why do I say so? Well cos instead of looking at the Top 40 charts for inspiration, he went straight to the source: The Bible. And to me the Bible has got it all, he credits people like King David, Moses, and Abraham for how he writes his lines. It’s a bold move to list the Prophets as your co-writers, but it definitely makes the song stand out.
Now when you hit that play button, you do realize the track itself is a bit of a trip. The structure is totally unconventional. When you listen to it, you’ll hit these phonetic sections where the words sound almost like a different language or a strange code. Christopher admits they are “almost incomprehensible,” but he insists they are “completely coherent” if you’re really tuned in. It’s meant to represent how spiritual stuff can feel complex and overwhelming at first. But when you’re tuned in to the spirit, you begin to understand them.
The whole point of the song is in the title. It’s a direct question: “Whom Seek Ye?” He’s basically calling everyone out, asking us to look at our lives and figure out what we’re actually chasing. He thinks the world is currently caught up in a “great deception” where we all care way too much about worldly drama and not enough about a relationship with Jesus. And sometimes even those with relationships with Jesus, they begin to tremble when there’s a little shake, so where’s your faith? Where’s your believe as a Christian? Why are you beginning to doubt God because of a little problem or even a bigger one? Believe and He shall deliver you!
It’s an unapologetic, gritty mix of poetry and soulful singing. It’s recorded right there in his hometown, and it feels very raw. Whether you’re a super religious person or someone who hasn’t stepped foot in a church in years, the song is designed to make you stop and think for a second. It cuts right through the usual noise and forces you to look at things from a completely different perspective.
It’s definitely an acquired taste, and it might take a few listens to wrap your brain around those weird phonetic parts, but it’s hard to ignore the passion behind it. Christopher isn’t trying to win a popularity contest here; he’s just trying to share what he believes is the eternal truth. Go ahead and give this one a listen, you’d be shocked to how much value it will add to your life!
