Things are very unpredictable especially the weather, at a point the weather app says it’s a bright sunny day, only for some hours or minutes to pass and boom there’s a downpour. Strange right? Yeah that chaotic feeling of never knowing what’s coming next goes beyond the daily rain forecast. If you look at it, we living through a wild era where technology, culture, and daily life shift at breakneck speed.
Well italian musician and former journalist Massimo Donelli took that exact feeling and crafted a very great eighteen-track album, titled “Previsioni del tempo incerto“. The album which was recorded under the name DONELLI A.I. ENSEMBLE, blends human songwriting with modern tech to explore jazz, progressive rock, and global rhythms. “Villistas” brings a lot punch with it. A track that has a nod to revolution and historic struggles. The bold brass tones in here really hit hard on the main beats, while aggressive rhythm melodies give the arrangement a steady, marching feel. It’s very energetic, determined, and full of fire, it has this feel that no matter how unpredictable things may be, be ready to push through every pain and obstacle with desire and energy. Then “Claudia” comes to calm things down with a more gentler, more intimate melodies that gives you a moment to catch your breath. And that life, whilst chasing the bag and pulling through everything, don’t forget to take care of yourself and catch some breath. It feels like a quiet conversation in a warm room while rain taps against the window pane.
To those who always wants something steady and stellar on the road, this track “Sulla strada” will give you that steady rhythm of a long highway drive. It’s got a catchy synth hooks and a driving bassline that will leave you tapping the driving wheel or the dashboard or nod your head to its rhythm. I love how it gives you this feeling of watching landscapes blur past your car window. Now this track “Pigalle”, if you travel a lot especially in France you’d know this was most likely inspired by the famous, lively district in Paris. And it’s beautiful how this tune brings a theatrical, playful bounce. Fun accordion-like synth tones slide across a swing jazz beat, capturing the bright neon lights, late-night walks, and quirky energy of a bustling city street.
On “Batticuore”, this track moves like a heartbeat, with a rapid, thumping bass drum leading the way, and simulating a racing pulse. I love the way it captures that sudden surge of adrenaline when something catches you completely off guard. On “Tiki Beat” things really take a fun, tropical turn here. Bright marimba sounds, island percussion, and bouncy basslines turn up the summer heat. It offers a lighthearted break from the heavier themes, reminding us to enjoy small moments of fun even when the world feels unpredictable.
With “Città futura”, you get this mixes of classic progressive rock keys with sleek, modern electronic textures. Spacey synth leads climb over a steady rock drum beat, painting a vivid picture of towering buildings and busy futuristic highways. “Spot” doesn’t waste time, it’s a short, snappy, and straight to the point kinda track. This quick track plays out like a classic TV commercial bumper or a brief radio jingle, adding a clever touch of humor and media commentary to the album flow.
Then “Grot” brings in a darker, heavier bass tones on this short, moody piece. It’s low electronic rumbles and deep drum hits create a mysterious atmosphere, taking the listener into an underground space before the next big shift. This track “VUCA”, which I think is an acronym used to describe volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. This song translates that heavy idea into a complex, fast-moving jazz fusion jam, with sudden rhythm changes keeping you guessing at every turn.
“Kali Yuga Dub” combines ancient spiritual themes with heavy dub reggae rhythms. Deep, booming basslines roll under spaced-out echo effects. It’s slow, hypnotic, and heavy, giving the album a nice groove to hold onto. Then “La guerra è finita” comes in with this uplifting atmosphere whilst giving a sense of relief and hope. It’s soaring melody lines, bright piano chords, and steady drums create a triumphant mood, celebrating peace and the end of a long struggle.
“Dopo la tempesta” carries a calm, reflective vibe. Quiet ambient chords, gentle acoustic picking, and soft bass notes depict a world drying off under the sun. It reminds us that no matter how hard the rain falls, the sky eventually clears up. So keep going for there are brighter days ahead. Things finally comes to a close with “Ninna nanna“. A peaceful lullaby crafted with gentle piano keys with a sweet, simple melody that slowly winds down the energy of the entire album. It offers a soft landing, tucking the listener in after an intense journey through eighteen distinct musical worlds.
