I love these kinda music a lot as they create some sense of serenity for you. Especially when you need some time alone and nothing to disturb you without any whispers or vocals to disturb you then this is the right album to turn to. In a little place called Tranås, hidden in the woods of Sweden, there’s a tiny world filled with fur coats, gossipy stories, and dramas. Amid all this, there’s a band called DEGREES (DGRS). It’s made up of two friends, Mikael Jakobsson and Rickard Folke. These two met each other back in 2001 and became the best of buddies. So one day in September 2008 they decided to do something about it. They put their hearts and minds together and officially formed their band, DEGREES.
The fear of being stuck in their hometown, Tranås, for the rest of their lives is what brought these two together to start their musical journey in 2001 and along the lines in 2008, they officially formed Degrees(DGRS). Now, here’s the interesting part. Their fifth album, “Pt. V,” is a collection of songs they recorded in 2012. However, these tracks ended up being left behind and forgotten for more than ten years. But guess what? In 2023, DEGREES decided it was finally time to share this hidden gem with the world. And they got some help from a cool German indie record label called Aenaos Records.
The first track on the album sets the mood for the listener to begin a journey into the creative atmosphere of Degree, the way they combine their musical elements really lifts the mood of the listener paving way for the listener to enjoy the next track. Their mix of different musical elements like combining ambient electronica and synth, creates a unique sound that immediately catches the attention of listeners.
There’s no particular favorite on this cos as soon as track 1 starts you don’t wanna skip,they are well crafted and arranged in manner that makes you patiently wait for the next one, you fall in love with every track on the album.
