Antoin Gibson – “The Rise and Fall of Eternity”: A Dark Journey Into Life and Death

I don’t get it, but people sometimes wanna live forever and to me it’s crazy. But I get the fantasm behind it, experience another generation, another world or live to see when flying cars will become a thing? But what it you’re suffering or battling with something crazy and hurtful yet you wanna live forever? It’s crazy but deciding whether eternity sounds like a peaceful getaway or an endless corporate meeting you can never leave is a great way to keep yourself awake until sunrise. London-based independent creative Antoin Gibson handles that heavy existential headache with her theatrical five-track EP, “The Rise and Fall of Eternity“.

The EP released through her Circum Sonus imprint, is project that pushes listeners to confront mortality, self-destruction, and the unknowable nature of human consciousness. This ain’t just simple songs, though they sound like one, but they carry a lot of the thinkings and ideas that some of us think about, especially about living beyond our lifespan. The EP let us know it’s ain’t just death, but eternity is a double-edged sword, and maybe the real mystery is learning to exist without needing simple answers.

Such creative thought process ain’t something you get daily, but I can I like how Antoin Gibson crafts music that feels immersive, experienced and lived, where sharp rap verses, industrial beats, and theatrical pop collide into a dark, hypnotic thriller. So you should know you’re in for treat throughout the tracks. It’s worth noting that, not many may get the concept, so Antoin added a photographic story book, which as you stream, you get the picture of each events and how they unfold, there’s also a vinyl which includes a 6th track that actually brings lots of light to the EP.

We are welcomed with the track “Introduction to the Unexplained“. This track starts with a serious hard rap verses that feels confrontational, the beats are just relaxed before it gets going and consumes you. It’s ain’t easy dealing with diagnosis, especially when an incompetent health officer diagnose you wrongly and gives you false hope that you will to see the end of life only to realize later that you ain’t making it and it was wrong, yet no justice was served. How would you feel? I like how she uses introspective lyricism over moody background pads. It acts as a calm, reflective threshold that opens the door into the unknown. It’s a track that makes you question the essence of death and life itself, why are we even here at all if we gonna die anyway especially through such a frustrating error!

“Pandora’s Paradox” kicks things up a bit with this moody heavy, sharper electronic pulse. I love how the track pairs tight drum patterns with questioning vocal lines, exploring how sometimes our own curiosity can lead us to hope and destruction. It makes you question why we are even born at all, cause from that moment, we are working our life out to death. You grow, you live the life you want, and now you get old and you have to die. Crazy right, but also it helps us know how all these are linked together. You get joy, pain awaits, when there’s life, there’s also death, when sickness comes, there’s also healing. We have the free will yes, but at what cost? To make decisions that will end up hurting us? Or make us live? Hope is just another way of covering up for pain after all.

On “Dystopian Empress“, we move fully into her theatrical flair. The track dives headfirst into industrial electronic textures and dark pop hook work. The whispery haunting vocals that starts the track before those hip-hop and electronic mix comes in is quite inviting. It transports you into a world where you begin to ask what’s our obsession with this world if we just gonna end up destroying it anyway? Then turn around and try to build it again, and now we try to find answers to wait the future holds? Are we not getting insane then? We been preaching to save nature, preserve it yet, we go around and destroy it, so then let’s keep quiet and reap what we sow. I like the confident delivery, the calmer vocals when the track is about to end, its gives you room to ponder, reflect and make a decision.

“Mirrors Behind the Smoke” creeps in with murky synthesizer lines and heavy atmosphere, it builds a sense of mounting unease. The production peels back shiny surfaces to examine uncomfortable personal truths hidden beneath appearances, making every drum hit feel heavy and deliberate. So as the song says, is the human brain designed to protect the unknown? Our subconscious? What’s hidden there? Sometimes I think we haven’t even discovered quarter of the world and what it entails and we humans ourselves. This is something we fear, so we cope with hope and lies! To get a feel of it, place mirrors around you, stand in the middle and let your brain and eyes tell you what they see.

“Fortune Favours the Timeles” brings things to a surprising end on the standard edition. This stylistic track pivot into a haunting, folk-influenced landscape. You get organic acoustic textures and stripped-back vocals replacing the dark electronics, leaving the ultimate nature of consciousness open to your own interpretation. So I ask are you bold enough to confront the unknown? Are we ready to live forever? Or can we live with diseases forever? Or shall we remain and never evolve? Time will keep moving forward and history will repeat itself. Maybe we all hold the same desires, just that we don’t speak it loud. It’s human nature and may we all find answers to what we seek, for fortune favours the brave they say!

Wow, that’s some wild journey, to me this is the kind of concept albums or EPs people should be dropping often. This is really a refreshing, and “The Rise and Fall of Eternity” deserves your ears. Not only is it different, but it also offers a rare, fearless blend of deep storytelling and genre-bending production. It delivers sharp lyrical hooks, moody electronica, and an unforgettable journey into life’s biggest questions. So do ahead, stream “The Rise and Fall of Eternity“, make sure to get the accompanying book with it and explore what lies beyond!
