4 min readIt’s crazy but how are some of you able to create songs or sounds that f**king strikes the soul of the listener in an amazing beautiful way that they can’t even fathom. Man see this project I’m about to introduce to you will definitely be on your favorite playlist after listening to it. Ma man here Stoop, who after a decade of craftsmanship has released his debut album “Cratehead,” and sweet Jesus this is the best instrumental album i have listened to this whole month. Now what’s beautiful about this album is how it effortlessly blends a wide range of samples from soul, folk, ambient, harp, Eastern, and 1960s pop genres and oh my goodness I f**k with this. Well Stoop’s journey is full of passion, respect for hip hop history, and a tremendous dedication to his craft.
Stoop who is influenced by hip hop legends such as DJ Premier, J Dilla, The Alchemist, and Apollo Brown, has really crafted a 9 track album that really brings the old hip-hop vibes back and it’s soo good. See Stoop created this piece so that emcees can burn the beats with their lyircs. Not only did Stoop bring back old memories but also was able to infuse modern elements into these beats. Each track on “Cratehead” is a carefully crafted, mastered and refined to it’s finest grade for we listeners to enjoy. The album dives into soulful melodies, ambient soundscapes, and captivating beats, which goes beyond just traditional hip hop boundaries. Omg, see what’s beautiful about this album is how Stoop’s brings his versatility and dynamism to it production, which actually gives listeners a rich experience to innovative sampling and a deep understanding of hip hop heritage.
Now the first track on the album “The Origin”, my goodness, this track really is fire and sets the whole album on flames with it’s calm hip-hop infused beats with this nature sounds. I love this one, like it really gives you the nostalgic feel of the good hip-hop erra whole having some new modern elements in there. This track lay emphasis on Stoop’s ability to create from an expansive range of genres. The track just captures your attention from the very first beat-drop and gets you glued and entertained throughout.
Another track on the album that I love much is the second track, “Daybreaks & Heartaches”. This track has this infectious beats that really echoes this haunting like atmosphere that portrays the craziness that comes as the day goes on, like those moments when you really need to clear your head haha. What’s beautiful about this track is those haunting vocals, probably my favourite on the album. We don’t get these good hip-hop beats anymore. If I were an emcee this would be ma first track to collaborate with. Pure flames and very magical.
There’s this track that I felt in love enjoying, “Cherry Blossom”. This track is down to earth, very cool, inviting and very catchy. I love those trumpets, flutes like elements in there that draws the listener closer to the magic feel of the track. Stoop really crafted this masterpiece and without doubt the best hip-hop beats available to enjoy. There’s a track for everyone, especially that track “Breath”, gives this sunset feel I love soo much, I can talk about the album whole day. Just go give it a listen and trust me, you ain’t gonna skip a single track on the album.
What makes this album, “Cratehead” a masterpiece and definitely a first choice for artists looking for some beats to devour, is how Stoop blends other genres and infused them into the tracks. This album pushed boundaries of music and becomes a a great choice for listeners and artists to pick. There’s no skipping on the album, from the first track to the last track, you get hooked, entertained and makes you wanna repeat it whole day. There’s a hidden gem in there, “Mystic City”, haha check that beauty out and come gimme ma flowers.
