Eclectic Whiz’s “IT’S TIME” Is a Dark 22-Track Journey Through Pain, Rebellion, and Healing
One thing I’ve learned is that there are moments when you really want to do something, but at the last second, you simply don’t. It’s like it completely happens out of the blue and you’re like ah, this ain’t it but then it what it is. Maybe you’ve experienced it, like you ever had a week where you felt completely overwhelmed? You feel gassed out and stressed out that you wanted to scream into a pillow, but instead you just sat on the floor staring at a wall? It happens right?

Well Paris-based producer and visual artist Eclectic Whiz took all that heavy, raw anxiety and turned it into an absolute beast of an album. So you don’t have to scream into the pillow no more, and instead put this album on play, don’t shuffle it, else you gonna miss the whole story. If you know her, you’d know she’s been using music as a literal lifeline to stay sane, and she just dropped a massive 22-track album called “IT’S TIME“.
When you listen to the project, one thing that’s clear is, this ain’t your standard background music you play while you clean your kitchen. It’s a dark, heavy, and totally wild journey that blends Witch House, Occult Trance, Industrial Techno, and Post-Rock. Wait! Before we dive in, there is a catch. The artist has a strict rule that says’ every single track has its own special, high-resolution artwork representing the story. Infact I wish I could plaster all of them here so you can have an extended meaning to tracks, but maybe a few will do! Now one thing about this album is, you gotta start from track 1 to track 22 due to the fact that it follows a very clear emotional story in sequence. And that’s transformation, deep pain, rebellion, and finally, a reckoning.

Welcoming listeners into a dark world where we start our journey by jumping straight off the deep end is the track “Enter the Void“. When you listen to this track, you’d know why it’s the opener. I love how it sets the mood with high-energy, dramatic occult house beats that consumes you right away and telling you to let go of your old reality. You can’t keep hiding in the shadows, you can’t keep living by your past, so it’s the moment you decide to stop hiding from your dark thoughts and actually step into the shadows to face them.

Then the track “3 Monkeys” comes in as one of the main focus tracks, and it’s a total banger. It has a weird, fast rhythm called a devil steps pattern that makes you feel slightly off-balance. Then, out of nowhere, it hits you with a massive Industrial Hard Techno beat drop. It’s all about reclamation and revenge here. The track wants you to get up, and stop staying quiet and get ready to fight anyone that did you harm, for if people don’t see that there are consequences to their actions, they’d keep doing it.
Then we have “Musings of Shaie“. I think this is the heart and soul of the album. It’s a long, gorgeous instrumental track that introduces us to Shaie. Shaie is a mysterious entity that represents the artist’s inner pride and survival. The song feels like looking into a broken mirror, and what does it tells you? That even when we are cracked and fractured, we can still find a strange, beautiful strength in our survival, so keep going.
“Despair in the Portal” comes in after the high energy of the first few songs, and begins to drop the tempo. This track takes us into a sad, slow groove. It represents the sudden realization that fighting back is exhausting and draining, and you don’t know if you can keep going. It’s the sound of falling into a dark place of worry and feeling trapped in your own mind. We then have “Burning Redemption”. And one thing is for sure, you can’t keep a good witch down. This track brings back some angry, rebellious energy. It blends heavy industrial beats with a message of hope. It’s about burning down your past mistakes and using the ashes to build a stronger version of yourself. Like saying, that was me, but now I’m more stronger than before.
Then we hit “Forget Me” and realize how quiet, melancholic tune it is. At a point in everyone’s life, you get this heavy desire to just disappear from the world for a while. Sometimes, the best way to heal is to let everyone forget about you so you can rebuild your life in peace. Are we sometimes our own monsters? On this track “In Your Head”, it feels like those moments where you laid awake at 3 AM listening to the house creak, convinced that something is hiding in your closet. I love the psychological tension and creepy, whispering beats here. But then again, sometimes the scariest monsters are the ones we create in our own minds.
Things begin to get a little weird here on “Pew Paw Pow“. The title sounds like a cheap cartoon laser gun, and that’s the point anyway. But this is a dark, abrasive track, yet it’s got a heavy dose of twisted, glitchy humor. And it’s all about laughing at your own pain because sometimes, the world is too ridiculous to take seriously anyway. Are you following the album? It’s like we’ve entered a new area cos this track “Grizzly Dear” is also another track with a funny, distorted title. This one plays on the words grizzly bear and dear. It features heavy, grinding industrial noises that punches you and let you know the scary, aggressive side of love and how easily a sweet relationship can turn into a dangerous beast.
We hit the middle of the album with “Enter the Void (v2)“. This version of the opening track is much slower and heavier. It shows that we are no longer afraid of the dark. We are comfortable in the quiet void now, and we are ready for the second half of the journey. On this track “Layerising”, which uses a word the artist made up herself, is built around heavy, repeating synth patterns that stack on top of each other. And this is something most fragile people do, we build layers of defense and coping mechanisms to protect our fragile hearts from the outside world. Because sometimes, we just can’t manage the pressure and pain from the world, so we just say I’m okay, I’m fine, nothing’s wrong with me and move on.
Then we land on “Vexxed Novelle // Hexxovelle“. This track brings us deep into occult trance territory. It feels like a modern-day witch casting a spell over a heavy dance beat. In here, it’s about protection, warning bad people to stay far away. “Culminated Dread” launches itself as the slowest, heaviest track on the album so far. The beats feel like they are dragging through thick mud. It represents the absolute rock bottom of anxiety, where the weight of the world feels too heavy to carry. All of it is in here, deep emotions, throat slashing feel and all the pain.
With “What Burns“, you’re met with a raw, emotional song that asks a simple question, what is left of us when everything we love is burned to the ground? Most times it’s just hope. When someone has survived the worst of fires of life, they have nothing again, than to hope. But afterwards are we gonna have an “Euphoric Panic”,? A wild, high-speed ride song that mixes the feeling of absolute terror with a sudden rush of adrenaline. It’s like riding a roller coaster in the dark. It’s weird but also exciting in the midst of your chaos.
“Tombstoned”, a heavy and slow track with a spooky, gothic atmosphere. This track is about those moments where you feel completely dead and exhausted, but somehow finding the strength to keep walking forward anyway. And along the way, one will always meet their “Calamity”, and this huge, instrumental post-rock masterpiece mixed with hard trap beats, feels like a giant summer storm rolling over a mountain. It’s about embracing the absolute chaos of life and letting the rain wash away your old pain.
We then come back to “What Burns // Pyromaniac“, a high-energy, angry follow-up to track 14. Instead of just surviving the fire, this track is about actively enjoying the destruction of your old, toxic life, reclaiming your power by being the one who lights the match. As we hit “Vexxed Novelle“, we return to the spell-casting vibe, but this version is much simpler and more intimate. It feels like a quiet, lonely whisper in an empty room, reminding us that we have to be our own heroes at the end of the day.
As we get closer to the end “Surreal Yearn” comes in as a beautiful, trance-like trip. It has a soft, glowing psychedelia to it. It’s about longing for a better, more peaceful world and letting your mind drift away into a happy daydream. Then we hit the acceptance stage on “Let It Sink“. The heavy, watery beats make you feel like you are sinking to the bottom of a quiet ocean. It’s the moment you stop fighting the current and just let yourself feel the sadness so you can finally heal.
We then hit the end of the road with “Through the Void“. We made it to the end! The final track is a quiet, peaceful post-rock tune that feels like a warm sunrise after a long, terrifying night. What can we say? We survived. We walked all the way through the dark void, and we came out on the other side stronger, wiser, and completely free.
To me, Eclectic Whiz has created something truly special here. “IT’S TIME” is a massive commitment, but it’s totally worth the trip. It’s honest, angry, beautiful, and completely breathtaking. If you are short on time, start with the focus tracks like 3 Monkeys and Calamity to get a taste of the madness. But if you have a rainy afternoon and a good pair of headphones, turn off your phone, start at track one, and let the void take you away!
