“HADRIAN’S WALL” BY GARY DRANOW AND THE MANIC EMOTIONS: A MASTERPIECE OF STORYTELLING AND MUSICAL EXCELLENCE
3 min readSee eh music is sometimes all you need to go through anything. The ability of music to be able to pierce through your soul and connects you to what the song wants you to feel is sometimes magical but that’s all down to the artist. And to me Gary Dranow and The Manic Emotions are one of the best bands I’ve been listening to for longer now. The way they are able to infuse stories into their songs to resonate deeply with the listener is what makes them special and I love them to bits for that. Well now they are back with a new song titled “Hadrian’s Wall”. A song that takes us all the way back to 122AD and talks about the life of a Roman soldier, the challenges and victories amidst the construction and battle along Hadrian’s wall. It’s all about you, the ability to come out on top of every situation surrounding you even if it’s in the most difficult places and has the most bizarre outcome, the spirit of not giving up and achieving your purpose is all that matters and this is the life of the solider. So are you ready to experience and immersive listening experience? Let’s go.
Well lemme tell you if in case this is your first time hearing about this band, here’s a brief summary who they are; The band is made up of Gary Dranow, Chris Zoupa, Jason Jones, Roman Burda , Klim Apalkov and Roman Kuznetsov who come together to mix blues and rock to make masterpieces year after year. Now this song “Hadrian’s Wall” shows how much the band have grown since their debut and their dedication to working to perfect their music. The song starts beautifully with this fascinating guitar riffs that sound exactly like the old Roman empire sounding their horns for battle. The song gets you in the mood for battle and takes you into a world where you reflect on your family and go like, if I’m not able to make it out of this battle, ma wife and child aren’t gonna see me again, cos your heart is broken on this Hadrian’s Wall. The song emotional depth is crazy and the lyrics , the beats, the vocals, the delivery and Gary sharing his personal experience of battling bipolar disorder all helps makes this song relatable, clear and amazing. I love the storyline and storytelling in here, sometimes that’s all we gotta do, knowing very well without you it’s gonna be difficult for your family, for the people that depend on you and this boosts you to keep fighting that disease, that pain, that struggle and make it out alive so you can see them again.
Well Hadrian’s Wall ain’t just any song. It’s a masterpiece and Gary Dranow and The Manic Emotions promise to continue working as hard as they can to perfect their craft, take their music to a whole new level and continue to give fans exactly what they want.
