Nark 5 by I.D.K

Three decades in, I.D.K. doesn’t sound interested in nostalgia. “Nark 5” hits like a band that’s still got something to prove. The Bergen County, New Jersey punk/hardcore mainstays — formed in 1991 and sharpened through years of lineup changes, basement shows, and label releases — return with a track that feels both classic and newly volatile. Sharp riffs slice through explosive drums, the hook locks in fast, and Anthony “Red” Paladino’s vocals carry that familiar bark that longtime fans will recognize instantly.

But “Nark 5” isn’t just muscle — it’s cinematic. Inspired by the prison-break arc in Star Wars: Andor, the song pulls narrative tension from the Narkina 5 storyline, channeling the desperation and rising defiance of characters like Cassian Andor. Instead of softening their sound to fit the concept, I.D.K. doubles down on intensity. The result feels urgent — resistance set to distortion. You don’t need to know the show to feel the stakes; the themes of confinement, unity, and revolt are baked straight into the DNA of punk anyway.

Released via Scorpion Records, “Nark 5” marks the band’s first original composition since 2008, and it doesn’t play like a comeback — it plays like continuation. There’s weight behind it. History behind it. From early days on Earache Records to now, I.D.K. has built its reputation on precision and punch, and this single keeps that streak intact. It’s loud, direct, and unapologetic — proof that some bands don’t fade out. They reload.
