Well after success of their debut single “Best Days,” The Project, a Cali-rock supergroup spearheaded by James Davis, the former lead guitarist of the 00s sensation Shameless, presents their latest release, “Over You.” A song that captures deep themes of love and loss. Well you may be thinking is it worth it? But I’m here to tell you this song is worth every ear especially with “Best Days” already amassing over 260,000 streams and nearly 40,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, I say The Project have carved their path into the music scenes with elements that blends the best of pop influences with the robust sound of metal. Now James Davis, who is known for his impactful role as the lead guitarist of Shameless, carries a wealth of experience and recognition to The Project. In case you don’t know them his previous band, Shameless, really achieved a lot. They won beautiful heavy weight awards such as Best Hard Rock Band at the Southern California Music Awards in 2006 and Best Metal Band at the Inland Empire Music Awards in 2006. Now, with The Project, James Davis has welcomed a sound that goes beyond genres, he’s created this magic fusion of pop and metal that captures listeners attention just from the first beat drop. The Project has got the powerful vocals of Shameless’s Jeff Plant and the drumming expertise of Andre Bonter. The song “Over You” is a beautiful rock masterpiece that talks about love and loss. The song expresses the emotional depth of how one gets tied up to a relationship that’s fading but the heart doesn’t wanna give up. The lyircs lay emphasis on how one doesn’t wanna give up on the fading relationship anymore. Oh my goodness see I’ve listened to many tracks but this one right here, has something good and better. The beats are Soo classic yet modern and the vocals are magical, I haven’t heard such male vocals sound soo good a rock beat like this one. The way the song kick start with those drums and guitars rips you apart and pierce your soul and take you into a whole new realm that gets you hooked and entertained. Oh Sweet Jesus this sh** is freaking good. The song paints this beautiful picture of how one struggle between letting go or holding on especially with a partner that has got it all and drives you crazy. As the song moves on you hear lines like “The way you looked at me has long faded,” which captures the essence of a relationship that has lost its initial spark.
With the way the song unfolds and those deep emotional lyrics striking every chord really is awesome. You really wanna let go but when you remember how far you’ve come then you don’t wanna give up, even though there may be challenges but with lines like “I don’t wanna give up on you anymore, You drive me crazy but I can’t get over you”, evokes a sense of conflicting emotions and how strong of a pull love poses, even in its complexities. Man The Project really cracked this one and I’m in love with it. The way they arranged every bit of this song just tells you how they are able to blend genres with ease. The song is catchy, really catchy and got the sauce and vibe you’d never forget. It gives off this driving back to your love and blasting this song in the car haha, crazy right and like how you’d be beating your hands on the dashboard while enjoying it.
