The Whispering Shake the Metal Scene With Their Explosive EP “The Whispering Part 1”

Sometimes you don’t need to be a fan of certain music genre before you enjoy them. So lemme tell you something, if your current playlist isn’t loud enough to wake up the dead, I have some excellent news for you. There is a new heavy metal band in town, and they are already climbing up the rock charts, like being #5 in the NACC HEAVY 30 chart and #5 Most Added on the Metal Contraband Chart in their first week at radio, tell me if that’s not a rocket start.

You maybe wondering where they from, what their name is and why they chose that name. Well they are based out of Los Angeles, and tell me why they called themselves The Whispering, whilst naming their massive debut EP “The Whispering Part 1,” meanwhile there’s nothing whispering about this EP. This is pure, wicked heavy metal mixed with a hard-hitting alternative metal punch.

The project is fronted by a super interesting newcomer named Lucian Fhor on vocals and guitar. While he might be a fresh face in the metal scene, the guy has been flying under the radar for years doing music for huge superstar acts, including the world-famous Cirque Du Soleil. Because of that wild background, you just know their future live shows are going to be completely insane. Just imagine sweaty, energetic atmosphere with pure metal music, loud enough to shut down stadium.

Now to record this EP, Lucian put together a total dream team of elite metal musicians. On bass, you have Loic Colin, a legend in the technical metal scene. On drums, they actually have two absolute beasts. Tobias Kellgren, a Swedish cult metal figure who has played with bands like Wolf and In Flames, is their main touring drummer. But when they needed to lock down the studio recordings in a tight timeframe, the legendary Dirk Verbeuren from Megadeth and Soilwork stepped in to blast out the drum tracks.

They spent all of 2025 recording at the famous Besco Recording Studios in France with producer Dan McConomy, and got it mastered by Randy Merrill at Sterling Sound. The result is a four-track EP that serves as a teaser for a full-length album coming later in the fall of 2026. Now let’s take a look into these tracks.

Welcoming listeners to a grand haunting experience is the title track, “The Whispering” and it starts with a creepy, cryptic intro full of literal hushed voices that make you feel like you just stepped into a haunted house. Now this is where it gets interesting, the moment you’re too comfortable, the band says hold my beer and the song explodes into a wall of raw power. Lucian’s vocals are aggressive, and the guitars are incredibly fast. It sets the perfect tone for the band, swinging between heavy grooves and high-speed precision. They also dropped a music video for this one on YouTube if you want a visual to go with the madness.

Now on “Life After God“, this second track slows things down just a tiny bit to focus on a massive, heavy groove. Lucian likes to write lyrics that challenge the status quo and fight against hypocrisy, and you can really feel that rebellious energy here. The bassline from Loic Colin is absolutely massive on this track, gluing everything together while the drums deliver a pounding rhythm that hits you right in the chest. It is a perfect anthem for headbanging in your car.

Now I’ve got a song for some of you on “Evil Eye“. To those who love technical musicianship, this track is probably going to be your favorite. The drum work here is fast, frantic, and shows exactly why Dirk Verbeuren is considered one of the best in the business. And my goodness you see those guitar riffs? Jesus! they are serrated and complex, I love how they twist and turn over a driving rhythm section which just keeps you locked in and glued to it. It is a hostile, high-energy track that captures the classic spirit of 90s trash and death metal but keeps a modern alternative edge.

You know to every album or EP, there’s always something in the song that ends it, and on this one “Pretty Witches” is just monstrous! The EP closes out with this dark, theatrical number. It has a great groove that balances a wicked, spooky atmosphere with an upbeat rock tempo. The chorus is huge and catchy, proving that the band knows how to write a massive hook without losing any of their heavy grit. It feels like the ultimate soundtrack for a battle in a dark fantasy movie, leaving you wanting to hear the other six tracks of the album immediately.

The Whispering is releasing their music through their own label, LAG Records, and the industry is already taking notice. In their very first week on the radio, they landed at number five for the most added tracks on the major metal charts just as I said earlier on.

So to me if you are tired of weak rock music and want something with genuine power, precision, and a bit of dark humor, you need to turn the volume all the way up for this one. Just make sure your speakers can handle the bass.
