Vidura Barrios “CHANT!”: A Peaceful Journey Through Mantras and Meditation
It’s ain’t easy to stay sane throughout the whole day in this modern world. Just imagine having to deal with staring at screens, answering endless emails, and having a brain that won’t just stay shut up! Modern life is loud, messy, and exhausting, most of us try to unwind by scrolling mindlessly on our phones, but even that usually leaves us feeling more drained. So sometimes all you need is a calm moment, some meditation to free yourself from all the chaos outside. Well composer and meditation artist Vidura Barrios offers a much better solution with his new album, “CHANT!”.

The album which was released through Inner Splendor Media, blends ancient Sanskrit mantras with traditional instruments, vocal loops, and steady drum rhythms to create a deeply relaxing experience from start to finish. I like the way “CHANT!” smoothly balances high-energy devotional rhythms with quiet, spacious arrangements. Everything feels natural and brilliant in the way Vidura uses real percussion, acoustic instrumentation, and layered vocal performances. The production shifts effortlessly between two distinct styles.
On the energetic tracks, driving hand drums and snappy percussion kick up a steady, heart-like pulse. Layered chanting voices call back and forth, building an infectious rhythm that feels like an authentic group kirtan session. On the quieter tracks, the drums step back entirely. Warm acoustic textures, soft drone sounds, and gentle vocal loops fill the space, giving your mind plenty of room to rest and breathe. That I say is a good strike of balance that many lacks in this regards, nothing feels crowded here and it’s all clean and serene.
The album welcomes us slowly with the track “Krishna Invocation“. This track whilst being slow has spacious designed made to bring peace and some quiet moments to your mind. You’re embraced with soft instrumental pads and gentle vocal tones drifting in gradually and creating a peaceful, sanctuary-like environment. The repetition of the chant acts like a gentle anchor, helping you let go of daily stress and step into a meditative headspace.
We then shift into a full kirtan mode on the track “Govinda Gopala Madana Mohana“. This one turns up the energy with lively percussion and rhythmic group vocals. The drum beats push the track forward with a bouncy, joyful stride. The repetition of the sacred names builds a celebratory mood, making it almost impossible not to tap your feet or chant along as the rhythm picks up speed. “Rama Raghava” continues that positive momentum, it gives us this warm, melody-driven arrangement. Layered vocal harmonies trade lines back and forth over a steady percussive groove. The track captures the true spirit of communal chanting, delivering a bright, uplifting message about finding strength and joy through shared rhythm and song.
As one of the most vibrant pieces on the album, “Hare Rama Hare Krishna Kirtan” brings full-on festival energy to your headphones. The classic Maha Mantra takes center stage here, backed by driving hand drums and spirited call-and-response vocals. I love how the track steadily builds in intensity, creating a wave of pure, feel-good energy that washes away bad moods instantly. Now comes a more relaxed version of “Hare Rama Hare Krishna“. This one focuses more on smooth, hypnotic flow. The percussion stays grounded and steady, allowing the continuous loop of the chant to guide your focus inward. It serves as a brilliant bridge between joyful celebration and deeper self-reflection.
“Krishna Bija Mantra” turns inward for a deeply focused, meditative experience. In here you can feel how minimal the instrumentation are, it allows the primary vocal chant take total control. The track creates a still, peaceful environment that’s perfect for yoga practice, breathwork, or late-night meditation. We then kiss goodbye to the album with the yfcak “108 Names of Shri Vishnu“, an expansive, deeply reverent track. I love the use of slow vocal repetitions and spacious background tones here. This piece guides you through an ancient devotional list. The rhythm feels like a steady tide rolling in and out, leaving you with a profound sense of calm and completion as the final notes fade away.
Well what can I say? That’s some really beautiful album you know, it’s calm, lovely and really peaceful. To me “CHANT!” is all about using sacred sound and conscious repetition to clean out mental clutter and reconnect with yourself. Vidura Barrios draws on decades of personal meditation practice to show that sacred mantras are not just old historical texts. They are active tools designed to focus the mind, clear out stress, and bring real peace into your daily routine. One thing I realized is how the tracks were arranged, he didn’t just cast the songs across just because it’s an album, each song followed a pattern and each was placed after the other for a reason. It really completes it purpose by the time you listen to the last track.
So whether you are chanting along at the top of your lungs or just letting the music play quietly in the background, the album reminds us that real quiet and real joy are always accessible if we just slow down enough to listen. If you’re having a wild day and really need a cool relaxing melodies in your background, put “CHANT!” on repeat and enjoy some serenity!
