Kevin Honold Makes Falling in Love Sound Easy on “Honey”

Love is beautiful thing that everyone should actually experience. Cos if you haven’t, you’d never believe the people that say it or make songs about it and sing praises to it. But then again we listeners gets to experience it from songs and that’s what this song wants us to. You may think you know it all, but I think Kevin Honold knows exactly how it feels to be stuck in a gray, rainy Seattle winter. While most people just buy a sun lamp or drink too much coffee, Kevin wrote a song called “Honey.” It is a bright, sticky-sweet indie rock track that basically acts as a musical space heater. He has given us a heater so we don’t buy one. And I must say, the song does justice to it.

Kevin, a New Jersey guy through and through, who currently lives in Jersey City with his wife and their dog, Beckham has crafted a masterpiece that I say is a mood bringer. He calls his style “Rhythmic Rock,” which is a fancy way of saying his music has a heartbeat you can actually feel. One thing is, he doesn’t want his songs to sit quietly in the background while you do the dishes; he wants you to turn the volume up until your neighbors complain, and later come join you enjoy the music together.

The song “Honey” was actually written for his wife, and he released it on January 10, 2026, right in time for her birthday. I mean, who wouldn’t appreciate such an amazing partner if they have? Someone that loves you unconditionally, someone that contributes to your life as much as you do, someone that understands you, someone that pushes you to be better and someone that just know you through and through. You don’t quit on such people, you appreciate them and tell the world to find someone like them. What can I say? It’s a pretty high bar to set for the rest of us who usually just buy a card at the last minute.

The song is all about that warm, electric feeling of being in love. You know the security of feeling that comes with it, the vulnerabilities which you don’t have to care about no more, cos they do understand we all humans. Someone that just wanna be with you regardless, they don’t care what people say, as long as you both are happy, they are happy too.

What I love about the song is, it’s got a great groove that makes you want to move, and the lyrics are full of vivid images of sunlight and affection. It’s got a full-band sound with guitars, drums, and even some horns and cello thrown in. I love how those horns keeps you glued and wanting for more. It feels big and alive, like a wave hitting you. Yet Kevin says he spent years being afraid to share his truth, but he’s over that now.

Why would anyone sit on such a masterpiece. He draws inspiration from legends like Bruce Springsteen and David Bowie, but he definitely has his own thing going on. He isn’t interested in following whatever weird trend is happening on social media this week. He just wants to tell the truth and make music that feels human.

Well “Honey” isn’t here to give you cold shoulders, it’s hear to bring you the warmth you need when things are cold. So if you’re tired of the cold weather or just need a reminder that love doesn’t have to be a sad, slow ballad, “Honey” is the track for you. It’s warm, it’s fun, and it’s got just enough grit to keep it interesting.
