SIR-VERE – “New Age Girl”: A Cyberpunk Electronic Rock Banger

UK electronic rock veterans SIR-VERE are back, and this time they teamed up with award-winning producer Vodzilla to give us a new single “New Age Girl,” and this track is an absolute banger that lands somewhere between a cyberpunk thriller and a late-night rave.
The track starts beautifully with this eerie, ghost-like male vocal floating over a low rumble. For a brief second, you think you might be getting a chill track. Within seconds, Vodzilla drops a massive, driving big beat rhythm that kicks the door wide open and you’re welcomed to the world of SIR-VERE. I love how crisp and heavy the production feels. You get these fuzzy electronic basslines tearing through the bottom end while snappy synth hooks slice through the top, making the whole atmosphere feels like sprinting down a rain-slicked alleyway in Tokyo at 2 AM, surrounded by glowing neon signs and bad decisions. To fans of raw energy acts like The Prodigy, Nine Inch Nails, The Chemical Brothers, or Chase & Status, this will sit on top of your playlists.
One thing I like about “New Age Girl” is how balance it is. Not many would have stroke that balance, it’s either you get the synths tearing down your ears with noise or everything just feeling cluttered. But SIR-VERE did well in bringing the gritty alt-pop and rock hooks, while Vodzilla handled the heavy electronic lifting very well. Together they have given us a thing of beauty with much infectious energy needed without going overboard. The guest male vocals give the track a haunting, floating feel that contrasts against the pounding drum patterns without getting crowded or messy. And just like I said, every bass drop or synth has enough room to be felt without the other overshadowing the other.
Writer Craig White really kept things sharp and direct with the lyrics and I kinda love it. “New Age Girl” paints a picture of modern obsession, tech-drenched living, and trying to find something real in a fake world. It’s crazy people have become too obsessed with things that doesn’t even matter, you go online and it’s total chaos, people trolling each other, tearing each other down just for some likes and be called savage or something. It’s crazy but at the end of the day it’s what it is. The theme ties directly into anime, Japanese manga, and cyberpunk culture. It touches on how we get consumed by digital noise and futuristic dreams, yet still crave raw human connection.
I mean ain’t it kinda weird? You want that human connection, but every moment you get, you’re on social media, on your screens playing games or watching movie, and even when someone’s close to you or with you, people just can’t put their phones away and have fun or time with that person. This single isn’t just a one-off drop. It serves as the lead single for their collaborative album, “THE GOD MACHINE“. What started out as a simple remix idea over an 18-month period spiraled into a full 16-track monster project (or 20 tracks if you grab the Bandcamp Deluxe edition).
As Craig White put it, what started as a casual collab turned into a project with its own distinct identity. The album features heavy-hitting tracks like “ADORE,” “Base Jump,” and “Confused (LIPS),” taking listeners through an intense electronic journey from start to finish.
