DJ Cards – “Electric Detour”: A High-Energy Trance Track Made for the Weekend
Human nature sometimes amazes me, and it’s really interesting. There are some days where you leave home with a solid plan, then out of no where, you end up at somewhere totally different. Sometimes it’s ain’t all that bad, and it can even be the best day you’ve ever had. But lemme ask this, have you ever wondered what happens when the guy suing insurance companies by day decides to lay down heavy synth lines by night? Well Philadelphia lawyer and martial artist DJ Cards, who’s dubbed “The Lawyer Who Drops Beats”, just released his new single “Electric Detour.”
As the weekend approaches, this track drops you straight into a wave of euphoric trance energy that feels tailored for peak weekend driving or packed dance floors. So this weekend if you’ve got any plans, don’t do it without this track. But one thing I like more about the track is how it instantly changes the atmosphere and mood of anywhere it’s played. It lets you know it’s ain’t here to play or walk around, instead it’s bringing in a lot of energy with its of crisp, punchy drums that’s ready to make you move your body regardless of what’s going on outside of you.
Thanks to it coming from a producer who actually plays the kit, he’s able to create an atmosphere that balances movement with energy. The moment you hear that recalculating vocal, and the electronic elements sweeping in as the bassline rolls in with steady, driving momentum, you know you’re in for a treat. You get these bright synths melodies weaving on top, building up layers without overwhelming the ear. And that something that some EDM tracks lacks, they over-complicate stuffs and end up creating too much noise that hurts the ears, but this feels clean. Balancing clean studio precision with raw physical energy, keeping the rhythm bouncy, light, and constantly moving forward.
“Electric Detour” it’s just simple, straightforward, and refreshing. It doesn’t waste much time getting to you up to speed, and it says drop the schedule, embrace the change, and let loose for a few minutes. It’s a track built to snap people out of autopilot mode, whether you are stuck in traffic or blowing off steam after a long work week, this song says recalculate your route, turn right if you’re supposed to turn left, and have a good feel of everything and experience a good time without sticking to your daily routine. What I appreciate about DJ Cards’ approach is the attention to rhythm and detail. You can sense someone who understands how important timing and momentum are to a track. His background as a drummer may well contribute to that natural feel for rhythm and it shines through his production.
For fans of EDM, this should be on your top playlists, and to casuals, after one play, you’re gonna be in for another play, and before you realize you’ve repeated it and in a different location way off your destination. So go ahead and toss this on your main playlist, it’s brings real personality back to instrumental EDM. And for DJ Cards, if you pay attention to his works, they sometimes feel like watching someone calculate a complex puzzle in real time, then smashing it with a sledgehammer just for the rush. It’s disciplined, wildly catchy, and completely unpretentious. Go ahead, stream “Electric Detour” and see where the song takes you!
