David Goundry Goes Full 70s on “Lucy (Remix 2026)”
Thing is sometimes tragedies are a pathway to your dreams. And sometimes people often say it’s too late to start over, well David Goundry is proof that it is never too late to start making noise. After living in Italy for a decade and feeling totally disconnected from the music world, a 2017 divorce became the spark he needed to get back behind the guitar. Since then, he hasn’t wasted any time, and his latest single, “Lucy (Remix 2026),” shows exactly why people are paying attention.

Released on February 28, 2026, this track is a bit of a pivot for David. It moves away from his usual style and dives headfirst into that warm, fuzzy 70s rock sound. Think of the Beatles during their psychedelic phase or the melodic vibes of ELO and The Small Faces. It was recorded at the legendary Rooster Recording Studios in West London—a place that has hosted everyone from Go West to Sabrina Carpenter—and you can really hear that history in the recording.
To get that authentic retro feel, David teamed up with veteran producer Nick Sykes. Nick has been in the game since the 70s, working with the Average White Band, so he knows exactly how to make a track sound like it was pulled off an old analog tape while still keeping it crisp enough for modern speakers.
The song itself has a dreamlike, almost trippy quality to it. “Lucy (Remix 2026)” is basically a love letter to the 1960s. It’s a track that feels like stepping onto a vintage double-decker bus in West London during the height of the rock ‘n’ roll era. To me the real heart of the song is the “call-and-response” between David and backing singer Joanna Griggs.
Her voice gives the whole thing a dreamlike, “space gospel” vibe that makes the track feel elevated and weightless. It’s less about a literal story and more about capturing that euphoric, anthemic feeling of being completely immersed in a moment. It feels like a sunny afternoon in the late 60s, full of nostalgia but with a fresh energy that keeps it from feeling like a tired history lesson.
David’s first EP already got played on over 200 radio stations, including the BBC, and it’s easy to see “Lucy” following that same path. It’s a song for anyone who misses the days when guitars sounded warm and lyrics felt like a journey. In a world where most things are over-processed, this beautiful pop melody stands out and offer something with a bit of soul and some vintage British charm. It’s a solid follow-up to his album Saving Grace and a great look at where he’s heading next.
