DownTown Mystic is the musical alter ego of Robert Allen, a New York-based musician who is completely obsessed with vintage, old-school analog recording.
Last year, he released a project called Mystic Highway, which looked at it on here and other reviewers also covered it. Robert read those articles, smiled, and thought to himself, “Why not actually give the people a dedicated road trip release?” It’s pretty rare for an artist to openly credit music journalists for a concept, but Robert did it anyway. Now to record the project, Robert gathered a legendary team at Shorefire Studios in West Long Branch, New Jersey. We are talking about true rock royalty here.
The rhythm section features drummer Steve Holley, who has played with Paul McCartney, Wings, and Elton John, alongside bassist Paul Page. Robert even has tracks featuring Max Weinberg and Garry Tallent from Bruce Springsteen’s legendary E Street Band. With mastering handled by Leon Zervos, who has worked with Maroon 5 and Pink, the entire EP punches through your speakers with clean, human energy. Think of a wonderful style blend where a band like Buffalo Springfield meets classic Tom Petty.

Then we slide into Losing “My Mind – Re-Mix“, which highlights the mind-blowing guitar work of virtuoso Lance Doss. This track has a slightly more urgent, driving rhythm.
