Glam Sam And His Combo & Angelina’s “Talkin’ In Colour” Album : A Groove-Filled Jazz, Soul & Funk Journey

Have you been in this moment when you feel like your life needs a proper soundtrack? I mean not just a boring background noise for washing the dishes, but something with actual swagger. The kind of music that makes you want to put on oversized sunglasses, pour a cold drink, and strut through your living room like you own the place. So lemme ask, you ready to inject some serious groove into your ears? Then get ready to meet your new favorite international musical duo.

They are called Glam Sam And His Combo, they have teamed up with an incredible UK singer named Angelina, and they just dropped a magnificent full-length album titled “Talkin’ In Colour“. It’s an absolute masterpiece in how it fuses jazz, soul, funk, and blues into something completely addictive. Glam Sam is the brain child of Mats Samuelsson, a journalist and writer based out of Stockholm, Sweden. Years ago, Mats was in a promising indie jazz-pop duo. But like a lot of young musicians, the band members got cold feet, quit the game, and ran back to university. Mats never lost his love for a great rhythm, though. He eventually stepped back into the light as Glam Sam, set up his own Coolsville Sounds Studios, and swore a solemn oath that his music would always be one thing, groovy.

Now in the summer of 2025, Mats was listening to a cool musical project called Monks Road Social when a specific female voice completely knocked him over. It was Angelina, a UK-based singer-songwriter who already had a reputation for singing raw, howling blues that critics from Mojo and Uncut compared to Janis Joplin and Billie Holiday. Mats was so obsessed with her unique tone that he sent her a few emails with instrumental tracks to see if she could write some lyrics for them.

The creative chemistry was instant. They started firing ideas back and forth across the ocean, and before they knew it, a full album was born. The final record is out right now via the jazzy label Lemon Jazz Records, and it’s a beautiful, smoky ride that moves from 1970s attic apartment vibes to late-night dancefloors. Now “Talkin’ In Colour” symbolizes seeing and expressing life through emotion, creativity, and imagination rather than routine or black-and-white thinking. Throughout the album, color becomes a metaphor for love, memory, hope, freedom, and self-expression. Every song adds a different shade to the story, blending jazz, soul, funk, and blues into a vibrant musical experience that celebrates life’s many emotions.

The album welcome listeners with the track “Fingertips”, a deeply hypnotic and atmospheric song that serves as a beautiful tribute to Angelina’s father, who was known in the art world as the Oil Paint Poet. It’s lovely how the track blends smooth, sultry basslines with spoken word poetry and a splash of psychedelic guitar energy. It’s a song about how art, memory, and color all intertwine after someone passes away. It’s beautiful, moody and lay the foundation perfectly for the rest of the album.

Then comes “Mr. Cool’s Groove“, no need to think outside the box here. It’s a smooth, instrumental-heavy jam that showcases Glam Sam’s ability to layer vintage funk textures with modern production beats. It feels like the perfect track to play while you are welcoming guests to a backyard party. Then we slide into “Don’t Miss The Bliss“, a cheerful track that acts as a friendly reminder to stop stressing about the future and enjoy the present moment. Life is too short to complicate yourself with tomorrow when you’re living today. I love how war Angelina’s vocals are, it floats over a bouncy jazz-pop rhythm that keeps your head nodding.

We’re then introduced to “Runaway Trains (The Riviera Jazz Groove)“, which has already been getting massive love on big radio stations like Jazz FM and Solar Radio. The song is all about breaking free from a boring daily routine, and rather taking a massive gamble, and believing that a better life is out there. As Angelina puts it, the track is an invitation to just leave your worries behind, become runaway trains, and get out of town. The Riviera version gives it a lovely, breezy, coastal feel which I love Soo much.

The energy picks up big time with “The Dude Is Back In Town“. This song is a funky, fast-paced track that lets the horns and percussion run wild. It has this vintage cinematic vibe, like the theme song for a cool detective character in an old school movie making it a track many will fancy.  Then we hit the massive centerpiece of the album, “I Talk In Colour (The Disco Jazz Explosion). Now this version is custom-built for the dancefloor. The song is inspired by the dizzy, intense feeling of falling head over heels into a brand-new romance. It’s all about how love changes your entire perception of the world, making everything look bright, vibrant, and loud. This disco version drops a heavy, infectious bassline that will have you moving instantly.

But if you want a different flavor of that same story, you can skip down to track nine, which is “I Talk In Colour – The Brixton Jazz Edit”. This version pulls back on the disco drums and focuses heavily on a smoky, bohemian, late-night jazz club atmosphere. It feels intimate, cool, and beautifully vintage. Now this track “Sweet Summer Nights” (The Sweets For My Honey Groove) is the ultimate warm-weather anthem. It carries this breezy, soulful folk-pop melody that makes you think of late-night beach bonfires and hanging out with your favorite people under the stars.

Then things get delightfully gritty with “Blood Red Stone” (The New Orleans Groove). This track leans heavily into Angelina’s roots as a howling blues queen. The production shifts into a swampy, horn-drenched, New Orleans funk rhythm. The song carries this attitude of resilience, facing your demons, and standing strong like a stone when life tries to break you down. Finally, the album closes out with “Heartache And Loving“, a gorgeous, bittersweet ballad that looks at the natural balance of relationships. It reminds us that you cannot have true, deep love without risking a bit of heartbreak along the way. It’s a beautifully tender finish to a high-energy record.

Well “Talkin’ In Colour” is proof that great music knows no borders. By bringing together Swedish songwriting, British soul, and timeless influences from jazz, blues, funk, and pop, Glam Sam And His Combo and Angelina have created an album that feels both classic and refreshingly modern. Every track offers its own mood while contributing to a colorful journey filled with groove, heartfelt storytelling, and memorable performances. So whether you’re relaxing at home, hosting friends, or looking for music that lifts your spirits, this record has something to offer. “Talkin’ In Colour” is now streaming on all major platforms, so go give it a listen, discover your favorite tracks, and let its infectious grooves brighten your day.
