FEEL THE MAGIC OF PAUL JORGENSEN ‘N’ INSTRUMENTAL MASTERPIECE: “SOMEHOW, SOMEWHERE, SOMETIME AND WHY NOW?” ALBUM

3 min read

I always say I don’t know how people do it but to be able to create music that sends shivers down the spine of the listener without uttering a word is magical to me. How are you able to create and send a message without saying a word and all you’ve got is just elements of sound mixed together and polished to its finest, and served for listeners to consume and yet you can’t fathom how much joy or emotional it makes you get. I have an album here which just does that and man this is music, this is how you create something that the listener can enjoy without any stress. With a rich history of producing electronic music since the mid-1980s and a formal education in audio engineering from Los Angeles, Paul Jorgensen has crafted one of the most intriguing instrumental albums I’ve ever listened to. If you’re intrigued by this project and wanna check some of his previous works out, then do me the favor and check these out, “Down Wind and out of Tyme” (1986) and “Seeds” (1994). Well what’s beautiful about this new album titled “Somehow, Somewhere, Sometime and Why Now?” is that it’s got contributions from notable musicians like Daniel Brown (electric violin), Roger Ruzow and Adam Woogmaster (trumpet), Mark Giles (electric drums), and David Patterson (electric guitar), coming together to create a vibrant and an illusive sounds that leaves a lasting impression on the listener.

Setting the stage for the rest of the album to follow suit is the opening track titled “Tone”. This track starts beautifully with this tense and curious atmosphere from those violin and trumpets melodies which converges to get the listener hooked and then liberates them to enjoy the amazing trumpets that sits and ride on the other elements of sound to leave the listener in awe. What I love about this track is how it infuses synthesized sounds with organic elements, which then creates this ambient melodies that calms the listener and let them meditate and immerse themselves into the those beautiful soundscapes. Another track on the album that really catches your attention the moment you hit play is the track titled “Sleep”. This track starts calmly with these heavy electronic guitar riffs which then infuses itself and converge with the running drum that meets it and creates a beautiful pop atmosphere that is intriguing and melodic. The track lets you explore your introspective territories, let’s you dream and contemplates on stuffs calmly.

The last track I would shed light on is the track “Crime”. This track is more energy driven on electric drums which produces this steady pulse that meets this swirling like synthesizer lines and evocative trumpet melodies. What I love about this track is how divers it is, you get to feel a lot instruments coming together to create this beautiful energetic beats that brings a sense of urgency and movement. Now this is how you create an album, the way each element of sound in here sync together and blends in well to give each sound an opportunity to shine is marvelous, you don’t get to see one sound taking the centre stage, every bit of each element of sound in there is felt and that’s lovely.

Well what I can say is this album “Somehow, Somewhere, Sometime and Why Now?” by Paul Jorgensen is a masterclass in electronic music production, and he has indeed showed his talent and ability to mix genres and yet have them sync together to produce a very appealing and amazing beats to get the listener entertained and interested. So why don’t you go ahead and give this album a great listen and have a wonderful weekend. ENJOY!! Make sure to check him out on the links below for more;
