Ferdinand Rennie Releases Soul-Stirring Single “This Is Now”
See I don’t know your mood or how your mood will be, but if you are in the mood to pull the curtains close, light a nice candle, and have a good, therapeutic cry, I have the absolute perfect track for that, something that will leave you deep in your emotions and help heal it all. Something people don’t usually know is that, pulling off a giant, emotional ballad is one of the hardest things to do in modern music.

The thing is if a singer does not have the raw talent to back it up, the whole thing just ends up sounding cheesy, but thankfully, Ferdinand Rennie has more than enough power in his lungs to pull it off and have you in your feels! His brand-new single titled “This Is Now,” is an epic emotional ballad built on pure emotions with a great storyline.
Ferdinand has one of the most interesting backgrounds you will ever hear about. He was born in Austria, but he is a British citizen and currently lives out on the gorgeous west coast of Scotland in a town called Dunoon. The guy has been a massive deal in the theatre world for over three decades. He has starred in legendary stage musicals like Les Misérables, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Beauty and the Beast. He even sang live in Monte Carlo for Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco. Talk about a tough crowd. You might also recognize him from his appearance on Britain’s Got Talent back in 2022, where he crushed a cover of the hit song “Never Enough.”
But for this new release, Ferdinand Rennie decided to dip back into his theatrical roots. The story behind the track is really intriguing. “This Is Now” was originally written by Michael Andrew Storm and Meg McAndrew as a core song for an American stage musical called Loving. The song deals with some incredibly heavy human themes, specifically the pain of major loss and learning how to cope with grief. The thing is we all grief, but sometimes the loss of someone special could be a deeper grievance for us and this makes it almost impossible to even forget!
To bring the track to life, Ferdinand put together a global production team. He collaborated with a New Jersey-based producer named Andrew Hollander and a Germany-based producer named Alan Vukelic. Together, they took what was a quiet theatre piece and turned it into an absolute powerhouse of a radio single.
You might think, well “I’m emotionally capable” and thus I can deal with every emotions, but the moment the play button is released, you realize how quite soft and delicate the song starts. It then begins to build tension, the instrumentation is kept clean and simple at the beginning, allowing Ferdinand’s warm, experienced voice to take center stage. You can hear every single bit of the grief and sorrow in his tone as he sets up the story. It feels incredibly intimate, like he is sitting in an empty room talking directly to you about his regrets.
But as the song moves along, it begins to grow. The orchestration swells, bringing in heavy, dramatic elements that make the sound feel absolutely massive. By the time you hit the main chorus, Ferdinand completely lets loose. He pushes his vocals to a huge, soaring level that feels like a punch to the gut. He isn’t just singing the words; he is using his decades of musical theatre experience to print out the emotional weight of the lyrics.
When you get to the climax of the track, the energy is completely electric. The production creates a beautiful balance where the heavy instruments never drown out the vocals. Instead, they lift Ferdinand Rennie up as he hits those giant, powerful high notes. It leaves you feeling completely breathless by the time the final chord fades away and you’re left alone to ponder on every word. This is music and one that will leave you speechless and in your thoughts.
Well it’s been a busy year for Ferdinand, who already dropped two other big singles earlier in 2026 called “Unbelieving Eyes” and “Why Do We Try?” But “This Is Now” stands out as something truly special. I mean we covered all those tracks here, but I’ve got to say this is an honest, powerful examination of a feeling everyone has to deal with eventually.
So go ahead and give This Is Now a listen, if you love big, dramatic songs with incredible vocal performances that remind you of classic theater showstoppers, you need to turn the volume up for this one. But don’t forget to bring more tissues.
