FINDING SOLACE IN RESILIENCE: AMATEUR ORNITHOLOGIST’S “HIDE” ALBUM

4 min read

When I say music is a food for the soul, it always comes down to the kinda music you consume, some music will poison your soul and some will also feed it and grow it. So what music do you listen to? Well I have this pop group here “ Amateur Ornithologist” from North-East England back with their latest album titled “Hide”. An album filled with great wordplay and storytelling, beats and top-tier instrumentation. The perfect food to feed your soul with, and trust me this is gonna be the album you’ve been waiting for. It’s a 10 track album that has a song for everyone, so what you waiting for? Let’s dive into some tracks and lemme leave you to enjoy the rest of it.

Setting the stage for the rest of the album to follow is the song “A Hidden Path”. A song that starts calmly with this piano melodies that portrays this curious and lost atmosphere, leaving the listener hooked to see what comes next. And just when you thought you’ve heard it all, this amazing vocals sets in and sit on top of those melodious strings and let’s you dive into the wonder and mystery the song lay emphasis on. The beats pans out like a journey like tunes that lets the listener immerse themselves into the song’s atmosphere and join in the journey. It gives you the feel of an adventurous moments where you explore and find out about things yourself. Such a poetic and melodious track to put the album on the right path.

Now the title track of the album which also happens to be the 4th song on the album, “Hide”, is literally my favorite song on the album and my goodness people really understand this music thingy. It’s a song that talks about finding solace and comfort in the midst of chaos. When life is beating your ass, and all your options have rundown, and all you need is a place to find shelter, solace and comfort. It’s like you’re being chased by your problems, and now you need a place to run and hide, it’s too much for one person to be dealing with all these problems, why only you? But know that even in the most dark places, there’s light at the end of the tunnel. The beats are magical and haunting, leaving room the listener to feel more connected and help them immerse themselves into the atmosphere of the song. And the album comes to a beautiful end with the song “When They Fall”. This track is is a beautiful masterpiece that lay emphasis on themes of loss and resilience. Yes when it’s been difficult for you and have no one to turn to, and all you got is yourself, are you gonna let the problems swallow you? When if you don’t break the boundary, no one is gonna do it, like everyone depends on you but here you are, broken, lost and you have no one to lean on, then you gotta master courage and move mountains to make it through. I love this choir verses in here, it gives the listener a different feel and how the beats blends in again just makes it and intriguing song. If you fall no one is gonna carry the family out that mess, so don’t fall. Yes sometimes you may loose that one person you depend on, that one person who will guide you, that one person who will do anything for you, but it they are no more, are you gonna let them down? Definitely not, so get up and keep going. This is how you create an album that is resonating and have listeners hooked and glued throughout. And now that’s some ending to an album, the lyrics, beats and those melodious vocals, crazy crazy stuffs that I love soo much.

Well one thing is throughout the album “Hide”, Amateur Ornithologist shows just how talented and versatile they are and with Daniel Clifford and co-producer Harbourmaster’s production skills, they have made a masterpiece that will definitely blow their fans away. This album shows how much the band have grown as storytellers and artists and it shows they have more to offer as they continue take make a name for themselves in the industry.
