“Quiet Garden” by Garbage Garden Explores the Pain of Being Unseen
When I say music will always be a tool that says all the things of the heart the mouth can’t utter, I think I’m right. So lemme ask you, do you think it’s better to be a “ghost” who keeps everything running smoothly, or would you rather be the person making all the noise when it comes to human relationships? Why do you think I’m asking this?

Well cos sometimes in these any type of modern relationships, it’s either one person has to be a door mat for the other to be stepping on or they just lable the person nonchalant if you don’t do all the heavy lifting in a relationship while the other person barely notices you’re there. But I’ve got something that will strike your brain, this new single by Garbage Garden titled “Quiet Garden” is a total trip. Well if you don’t know Garbage Garden, they are a project that comes out of Kobe, Japan.
Now this new track “Quiet Garden” is something that has a lot of emotions to it and tell you what, it’s the first part of a new series they’re calling “Still Being,” and it is definitely not your typical radio pop. What makes this single unique is how it comprises of a mix of experimental pop and electronic stuff, but it’s has this spark of a dark, cinematic edge to it that will keep you glued throughout. I love how they describe their sound as “playful yet sincere.” It’s like they’re having fun with all these glitchy synths and weird noises that consumes you totally, but the actual message is pretty heavy and has a lot of heart to it.
Now this whole song is about the “ghosts” in our lives. Not the spooky kind, but the people who do all the work—like the person who makes sure the laundry is done or the one who trades their own happiness just to give someone else a clean slate.
It’s about that quiet devotion that nobody ever says “thank you” for. Sometimes people put their lives at risk for others, just so everyone can be happy, but they themselves never get that recognition, they don’t get the necessary appreciation they deserve and sometimes it’s shoved down their throats as “their responsibility” rather than a sacrifice. I love a line in here, it says; “The closer I stand, the more I disappear.”
And to me that’s a very brutal way to describe a relationship, isn’t it? It’s like you’re so close to someone, yet you’re not even seen by them, like they just see you as some furniture rather than someone like them. It’s really sad how relationships have become these days and how cold people can become. So when that happens, you just enter your quiet garden and reflect on all of it.
When you deep it, you’d realize that Garbage Garden turned what started as a personal story into something that feels like a big, universal truth, whilst working with co-producer named Peachoman. The track uses these sharp, atmospheric sounds to act like a mirror. It’s meant to make you look at the “stains” on the walls of your own life—the things you do that go unnoticed, or maybe the things people do for you that you’ve been ignoring.
It isn’t a song that gives you easy answers. The artist basically says that whatever you feel when you hear it belongs to you. It’s a bit of an existential crisis you can dance to, or at least nod your head to while you think about your life choices.
And like I said, sometimes music is the only tool that can give us the reality check we need. Like this one, it’s unpredictable and isn’t afraid to be a little weird. So why don’t you give “Quiet Garden” a listen, it’s a great reminder that even if you feel invisible to the world, your existence is still real.
