Kelsie Kimberlin’s “Clumsy Girl” Brings Light to Dark Moments

Guys! I’ve got a question, lemme ask, if you had to film a music video in a literal war zone just to show people some hope, do you think you’d be able to keep a straight face, or would you be diving under the table every time a car backfired? Well sometimes you need to be extremely focused to be able to pull off a lot of things and be able to even achieve your dreams. But Kelsie Kimberlin here, who is a 26-year-old artist has basically lived in a recording studio since she was a kid.

And the thing is, she actually won a peace project contest when she was eight and used the prize money for music lessons. Talk about being focused. Some of us would have just let things end there, but not Kelsie, she rather groomed her talent and since then has put out tons of songs and worked with the same people who produce for stars like Adele and Taylor Swift.

Why are we even here? Well her latest single is “Clumsy Girl,” and it is a total pivot from some of her heavier, more serious work. Lately, she’s been focused on her Ukrainian heritage and the war over there, even winning awards from King Charles and the UN for her help. But she did something new with this track, she wanted to get back to her pop roots and give people something fun to dance to whilst in the midst of chaos.

The song was recorded in LA with a massive team of pros, including people who have worked with Ariana Grande and Amy Winehouse. You’re probably guessing it was a good production, well your guess is as good as mine, it’s top tier. But it doesn’t strip away the depth of the message, it’s really a touching piece about finding your way and chasing dreams even when you feel like you’re messing everything up.

Sometimes sh!t happens and we begin to blame ourselves for everything and even begin to give up on our dreams, but this song says that your mistakes don’t have to define you, your mistakes shouldn’t be a yardstick to judge yourself, rather live through it and pick the pieces up and keep going. It’s ain’t easy but just know there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. The beautiful thing about this song is the music video that comes with it and it’s got a story. What happened was, they actually filmed it in Kyiv during a week of really heavy drone attacks.

According to Kelsie, they were filming in a cafe, and shortly after they finished, a drone actually blew out the window where they had been sitting. Now imagine all the ‘what ifs’, and to me I know how hard that must have been, trying to act and look happy while all of that is going on, but hey, they pulled it off.

The moment you hit that play button, you can see two girls just trying to navigate life and find a connection in a world that feels totally upside down. It’s lighthearted and sweet, which Kelsie says was the point. She wanted to show that even in a war zone, people still find reasons to laugh and fall in love, so don’t let that struggle or blockade impede your happiness.

The beat is catchy, the vocals are smooth, and it’s just a great, uplifting pop tune. It’s a nice reminder that life goes on, and having someone by your side makes the “clumsy” parts of life a lot easier to handle.
